So, last weekend my wife and I went for our first 2up trip on the new to us xt. We cruised from West of Indy down the best Hoosier roads I can remember to Madison Indiana. We took our time and put about 200 mi on the clock just getting down. We pull up to Clifty Inn to get checked in and I notice that the rear pirelli is showing cord??! Needless to say we changed our plans for the evening. The Inn is in a state park and our room had a great view overlooking the river, they also have a good restaurant so we stayed in for the night and made our plan for finding a tire in the morning.
I was expecting to have trouble finding a suitable tire on a Monday morning, but the first call found great luck. About 2 miles from the park is a lawn care shop which is now a full line Honda dealer. I thought from their yellow page ad that this would be a long shot, but the next choice was over 40 mi away. The call to parts went well; we have two 180/55/17's in stock you will have to come look at them to see if one is suitable. I'll take your info and my service guy will call you back to verify we can service your Buell. Forty min's later and the call came; "We can change the tire, but I'm not sure when, My mechanic has not shown up yet."
Needless to say I'm a little nervous at this point. As it turns out this place was AWESOME!! It is Anderson Sales and Service in Madison. We were greeted by one of the owners and directed towards service, did I mention this place is huge, As we walk into the service office it's like deja vu. Another owner, One of a pair of two identical twins that run the business, recognizes my voice and shows me the pilot power that he can have installed in a couple of hours. "My Mechanic that is familiar with your bike is just starting on a Wing."
We don't want you to have to wait, pick a bike off the floor and take it to lunch. Wow I wasn't expecting that, Lets see, a vfr? no, an 1800 Wing? no, ah how about an st1300, yep that's the one. He takes it back, checks the tires, throws on a dealer plate, and boom we are cruising Madison.
I'm not trying to push a dealer here, but I was blown away at the great service and total respect we received at this place. They gave me a good price on the tire, fast and good service, and unbelievable perks. The labor charge was 1 hour shop rate, but at this point I'm not complaining. The whole time we were there the place was hopping. We had to stand in line for 15 min. to pay our bill.
The rest of the weekend went great. We found some great roads, had some good food, and enjoyed each others company on our 19th anniversary.
The bike was great. My wife enjoyed getting back to riding after several years chasing our kids. I think we rediscovered a passion.

Thanks for letting me babble.
Dan

Been to Madison more times then I count, my wife is from there. I think she told me that the Anderson's go to her old church. I've never had a reason to go by the shop, but it's good to know about your service. I take the Uly to Madison at least once or twice a month in the summer. I'm glad you had a good experience and a nice anniversary.

Nice report, thanks! I'd say an hour labor is very fair to pull two wheels, change two tires, balance them both, and put everything back together.

It'd take me longer than that...

I'd say so too. Unfortunately this was r+r rear only.
Still well worth what I received. The bummer was I had already ordered a set of tires that were to be in the Friday before we left. They still aren't here.

Shwara : this was our first ride to the area. I've been to the regatta several years ago,but not the same kind of trip. We will definitely make it a regular destination.
