My speedometer reads about 5mph low at 60mph. Under other circumstances I wouldn't care, but since the closed-loop engine control on the XT cuts off at 60mph I could be losing power and/or fuel economy. At the very least, my currently reported gas mileage is incorrect, and that bugs the hell out of me. Is there a known procedure to adjust the speedometer/odometer tuning in the ECM for a 2008 XT? I'd think there should be a r/w register in the ECM that could be changed to adjust this. It's nice to have the bike back out in such an unseasonably pleasant early spring here in the northeast. |

I don't know how to calibrate it, but it can be calibrated through the ECM. The speedo on my '08 XB was dead on (according to my GPS) when I bought the bike but fell about 2+% off at the first factory reflash. The "comfort kit" reflash and the subsequent changeover to an EBR race ECM haven't changed that. 80 indicated = 77 GPS... |

I'm no ECM SPY expert but have used it quite a few times and I don't remember anything in there mentioning the speedo calibration. Maybe somebody with more experience can confirm or deny that. |

Yes the speedometer can be adjusted on 08+ bikes with TunerPro. It is useful if you are changing gearing, or you have some crappy tires that are not of normal size (pilot power 2ct). You can also compensate for the sensors accuracy at higher speeds. I believe the thing you want to adjust is the VSS Input Scaling Factor. |
