Do any of you out there know of a aftermarket top case that fits the factory Ulysses rack? I've been looking at Givi's cases but they all appear to have a mount that has to be added. I thought Givi made the luggage system for Buell and would they have something I could use to replace mine that took a nice side trip without the bike. Thanks! |

Hepco Becker makes the luggage and racks. I believe any of them will fit the uly racks. If you find a dealer for them you should be good to go. I don't know about the aftermarket stuff. Hopefully someone out there in Badwebber land has some experience with it. |

Thanks Srarkguy. I checked out the web and found Hepco Becker still makes the Buell style cases. They're called Journey cases. I just watched a used and scuffed case go for $427 plus shipping. From one of the web retailers I found the Journey top case new, for $174 plus shipping. I'll go for new. For those who are looking for cases, here are some links; http://www.amotostuff.com/hepco_becker_topcases/61 0-088-00-01.html http://www.amotostuff.com/hepco_becker_topcases/61 0-089-00-09.html http://www.adventuremotousa.com/index.aspx http://www.adventuremotousa.com/index.aspx http://www.amotostuff.com/hepco_becker_topcases/61 0-089-00-09.html http://www.amotostuff.com/hepco_becker_topcases/61 0-087-00-09.html http://secure.capitalcycle.com/Hepco-Becker-Journe y-Top-Case-40-Black_Silver/productinfo/610.088+00+ 09/ |

This past year, I gave away TWO of the Journey top cases to folks here (both my wife and I put on the larger top cases). Adventure Motostuff is now the US distributor for H&B things. I was able to order the water spigots for the Gobi bags I put on my Uly and actually get them to me in a very reasonable timeframe. If you have a local BMW dealership, you might check with them. A lot of them are H&B resellers, but you'll pay SRP for the bags and rarely get a discount. Wayne |

Thanks for the link Sharkguy. I like all the different view angles and measurements on the link you supplied. I may go with one of the bigger top cases. My only worry is that it may add to the wheelie abilities of the bike. I guess I'll need a good large capacity tank bag to help keep the wheel down and the weight distributed evenly. I hope to camp off of the Ulysses some day and leave the Beamer at home. |

Santa... The only time I've worried about the extra weight was on my recent trip where I had the Uly loaded with extra weight. I had the Gobi bags on the bike, the large topcase and 1.5 litres of water in each Gobi side case (the Gobi bags have two walls the water goes between the inner and outer walls). Even with that extra weight though, I didn't have issues with wheelies. Wayne |

Wayne, thanks for sharing. Do your Gobi bags use the same mount as the Journey bags or did you have to add more hardware? Santa |

Santa, yes, the Gobi and Journey bags can use the same mounts. Wayne |

I bought a journeymen case from hepko-beckar They have 2 models one the same size as our original topcase, and one that is much bigger. I bought the bigger one for my trip across Labrador. Works great, perfect fit. Hepco-beckar actually makes our stock cases. |

I bought a HB Gobi at a KTM dealer for my oem HB rack. Throws people off, seeing the Buell on the "tank" and then KTM on the top case. |

Chad and Judy are number 1 in my book with price and selection of Buell OEM cases (and probably others). Got some extra locks (without the 12 page form Harley wanted to get me to fill out) and a top box. Highly recommend. |

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/5 116/726/ I have this one on my Uly, it has a remote unlock, automatically locks, and also has an alarm. I like it. |

I had that same case on my Bandit 1250. The remote lock/unlock thing got a bit fussy after a month, otherwise it seemed a decent case. When it worked the remote was pretty snazzy (in full disclosure I put 9k miles on it in that month). (Message edited by Bike_Pilot on September 14, 2011) |
