I have a question about a noise I hear on my 08 XT during normal braking. I don't recall ever reading about this on BadWeb. It seems that I can hear a kind of whirring/buzzing noise under average braking on both brakes, front and rear. It's almost as if I can hear each hole in the disk as it enters or exits the pads. It has done this since new but I just assumed the pads would wear in and the noise would go away. It hasn't. The noise is less noticeable under hard braking. When I recently installed the 2010 wheel, I inspected the brakes very carefully and saw nothing wrong. I also pulled the front wheel to check the bearings and while I was at it, I took a look at the brakes too. Looked OK to me? Has anyone else heard of this? Do I just need to ride harder? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks! |

Normal noise on any bike with a slotted or drilled rotor. Ride on! |

I like the sound. Lets me know the front wheel isn't locked up in the rain. =] |
