If you hang around this board, and others related to Buell motorcycles and do not own one, you might think that they have reliability issues.

My '07 Uly has been near flawless!!! My buddies with Honda's and other Jap bikes have had more troubles with their bikes than I have with my Buell.

My fuel pump went out (under warranty), and rear wheel bearing whet bad...thats it!

42,000 smile filled miles and counting.

I love my Buell!!!

I don't want to jinx it, but between our two fastest colored blue uly's we have had over 32,000 mostly problem free miles. Had two weeks back in May where they both had slight hot and heavy tantrums (one related to the heat, the other related to too much weight on the seat in the heat) but mended quickly, well and under warranty.

We know people who have had waaaay more problems with their non-Buell bikes.

Here's to many more problem free, smile inducing miles!

My Uly has been nearly flawless, my CR, not so much so unfortunately. Both my BMW and my wife's BMW have been flawless as well, yet I know people that have issues with all sorts of things on many different brands.

That said, with today's manufacturing techniques and equipment, it's getting easier for manufacturers to bring down a lot of their warranty work as long as they spec their parts correctly.

When I bought mine I expected to have some issues cause of what I read in the mags.
12,000 miles and not one problem.
Great to hear yours is going strong Pat.

Correction-the only problems I've had were caused by my marginal riding skills

Overall, very good but the last 25,000 miles have been challenging.
I WILL get 100K out of it no matter how stubborn the bike gets. It may be ornery but I'm meaner.

12000 miles, belt broke at 6000 maintenance and new tires oh and the muffler strap broke 2 times. Just rode back from New Mexico to Montana 1500 miles and it never skipped a beat the whole way back.

I put 21000 problem free miles on my 08 xb9. now ive got a uly with 17k already on it and i havent had any problems yet but i think i will try and avert some by changing my wheel bearings clutch cable and a few other things people seem to have common problems with.

I've got 37k miles and I've had a few problems, but they were all common issues known on the board here. Nothing serious. I'm going to ride this thing forever. It's like a transformer. I can load up the bags and travel the world, or I can strip it down and it's a supermoto. love it.

25,550 miles... been much more reliable than my old Ironhead was but less so than a late model Harley big twin.

2006 with 33,500 miles. Fan's been replaced. Never been stranded with. It suffers from the Skip spark problem but I noticed the ECM connector is cracked. I fiddle with the connector and it runs fine. I really should replace it.

2009XT 18,000 miles. Front rotor warped, replaced under warranty no questions. ECM replaced 2 times under warranty no questions. Now fixed permanently, due to seat pressing on connector, problem solved.

2009 XB12X, 24k miles. Zero trouble(oops, I popped a belt at 20k, off-roading).
One trip to Homecoming(2010) went flawlessly.

Sh*t, I cursed myself!!!

While riding yesterday I heard a "ticking" from the right side of my motor!

I was literally 2 miles from La Crosse HD and pulled in to have it looked at.

They pulled the primary cover and said all was well. They said that they would have to turn down of the motor to evaluate/fix the problem.

The ticking changed with throttle input.

Lifter? What do you think it is? How much $$$ to fix?

I will never brag about reliability again.I will never brag about reliability again. I will never brag about reliability again. I will never brag about reliability again. I will never brag about reliability again. I will never brag about reliability again. I will never brag about reliability again. I will never brag about reliability again. Wow, Union_man, I hope it's something minor so you can get back on the road again soon. I'm still hoping there is at least one chance we can get together for a ride this late summer/fall. Good luck!

Belt at 25,000 miles.
Fuel light goes on about every 150 miles, what's with that.

Motorbike,

Tomorrow, August 18th is Bike/Car night at Jonny's in Elba. $2 burgers, beer specials.

About 70 bikes showed up last month and more are expected tomorrow!

Start is 5pm and it gets over at about 8pm...hope to see you there!

I'll ride down shotgun in the wife's Mustang due to the Uly breakdown.

6000 miles, throttle body repaired. My dealership gave me a New firefighters ultra off the showroom floor. (Put over 1000 miles on). what a slug compared to the uly. Comfortable ride, but slow for a 96".Got the uly back "happy days are here again". two years later, and I still ride past my brothers BMW GS on the rear wheel (it ruins HIS day, and makes ME smile). he can't catch me nya, nya, nya. gotta love it. Thanks to Erik, and ALL the elves for their efforts. HERES TO YOU!

The Useless made it home in a hurricane today. The old pile has been good to me (when it's not taking it's annual vacation).
I'd buy another one. Need it as a back up for when Ye Olde 06 gets ornery!

Just logged on and saw the "my bike is so reliable, just sayin" thread directly above the "official 07 crank failure build date" thread. Thought that was pretty comical. Glad I'm in this one and not the other....

Yep, with machines, or humans, you just never know.

My dad used to say "never brag about kids, cars or wives". Have to modify that to "kids, bikes, husbands". Two of 'em are human, the others built by humans. None are ever perfect.

Union man-best wishes for a replacement bike that gives you as much joy as your Uly did. I hope that mechanic can bring it back to life, much happier ending than being parted out. B.

Great quotes, Fltwistygirl! GREAT quotes! : ) Having just experienced the same issue with my beloved 96' Sportster Custom, and put out the BIG bucks to keep that baby in my garage and running well, I fully know the feeling and empathize.
