We are taking a 7 day road trip and the weather forecast is calling for one day of rain and we don’t want to get wet and don’t want to spend a bunch on rain gear, plus the hard bags are already packed full so compact is good. I'm looking for suggestions for alternative rain gear that work. I’m even considering the stylish Hefty bags and duct tape option. What are your experiences? |

I have the packable rain suit from Buell. HD still makes 'em, but you have a bar n shield on your back. Wanna say about $80 but the pants AND jacket pack into the inside-out hood on the jacket. 8" across, 4" thick. |

My Gal's pops gave me an HD 1 piece. When it rains......I do not get wet! |

I've got this set. A bit pricey but it packs small and works well. http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/raingear/jack ets_and_pants/tour_master/sentinel_motorcycle_rain _jacket.html http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/raingear/jack ets_and_pants/tour_master/sentinel_motorcycle_rain _pants.html |

+1 Tour Master Sentinel Rain Jacket I've spent 6hrs on the road in driving rain and never got wet. I had First Gear HT pants on and they had a slight leak at the crotch, that has since been seam sealed. The jacket's collar works really well. . |

Yeah, what is it about the crotch leaks in rain gear? I've had two brands do that. Very embarrassing as you walk into a hotel or restaurant after doffing your rain gear. I would re-seal any seams down there, regardless of brand. |

+1 on Frogg Toggs, very good for intermittent rain duty. Wouldn't trust them for my commute out here in the soggy PNW, but they were all I used back in South Carolina and worked fine. |

+1 on Frogg Toggs, inexpensive, fits over your textile gear if that matters to you, packs down decently to keep in your cases. |

I like the frogg toggs as well but only have the standard ones in black and felt invisible in a heavy rain since they have NOTHING reflective. The road toads http://www.froggtoggsraingear.com/RoadToads.shtm have reflective piping and seem like a great choice for the $$. I also have a Tourmaster sentinel jacket and pants and even though it's WAY too big I use the jacket as my primary rain jacket and the frogg togg pants (because the tour master pants are the wrong size). Both seem to work great. My Sidi water proof boots that I wear all the time and a set of waterproof gloves finish it off. |

So how do you wear the hood on the standard Toggs? I just got the set that was on sale. Do just let it flap around or tuck it in? |
