They are really helpful? Should we have them on axles of the Uly? |

Yep! I've hit all 4 end in a single wreck, saved my forks and swingarm from rash. The Dark Horse ones that American Sport Bike sells can't be beat. |

Thanks, always think about but they seems a kind of stick going out of the axle, ready to hook in something else. Find this rear one at Twin Motorcycles which looks nice: http://twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp?guid =YXHFSC&aid=1829&cid=108&s=&a=&aname=GSG_Crash_pro tection_pads_rear_axle_XB |

They will not hook, there is a LOT of engineering in them to make them work and not cause further damage. |

I like the look of these ones so I got a set. They are well made and were the best price I could find for solid aluminum sliders. They also offer a bunch of different styles on ebay. Thankfuly I havent crashed and had to put them to the test, and hopefuly never will. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ewItem&item=320720491123&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK %3AMESELX%3AIT (Message edited by badrap on July 08, 2011) |

I made my own from skateboard wheels and ss threadsall. The urethane wheels absorb shock well and slow the slide..And theyre cheep! |

I thought about that but heard the urethane grabs the road too much and can cause more harm than good. |

Skateboard wheels come in different compounds. The hard ones slide good on my supermoto.I did not have any problems with them catching. |

I will try and get some pics up later. edit, be sure 12 inches is long enough I cant recall the length needed but I already had some lying around. (Message edited by rwcfrank on July 08, 2011) |

Did you leave the bearings in the wheels or shim/spacer them around the threadsall? Looks like you could build a set for less than $20 |

I used stainless steel body washers I got from OSH. They fit the bearing recess in the skate board wheels perfectly and have a small center hole for the threadsall. yes they are cheep to build. Dont tell my daughter I used her skateboard, she hasn't missed it yet and it's been 6 months. |

yep, you can make our own. i did. but the fit and finish is no where near DHM/American Sport Bike or palmer, 50-DORO, PSR, or any body with a lathe. |
