I wanted to know if pre 08 primary gaskets will fit the 08+. Or if any sportster gaskets will work. What to know if I need to order one up from HD, or if my buddies shop is liable to have one. Also, I've heard some, maybe Rat or Wolf talk about something called hylomar? - That works well with older gaskets. When I took off the primary, the gasket came off very well, and looks great. Being the cheap stake I am and living 70 from the nearest dealer (A non Buell dealer), I'm thinking about reusing the old one. Thanks |

Yep, hylomar can help. A new primary gasket isn't flat, though...it has a "ridge" that compresses flat when you torque the cover. I'm willing to bet the one you took off is flat now. To answer the original question, I am 99% sure the only changes to cases from 08-up were in the cam side (gasket-wise). Primary side should be unchanged. You may be a cheapskate if you like...but no bitchin' if the hylomar doesn't work! |
