I have been riding my Uly since early 08 and I love it. Thanks to this forum I have averted all disasters large and small and farkled the beast properly. I have always been intrigued by the 9 primary swap but I spend too much time at the 90mph mark. Is there a combo of rear belt pulleys and belts that will result in a slightly reduced final drive ratio? Say somewhere between stock and the 9 ratio? Or is the Uly belt the only Buell belt strong enough for the uly? Inquiring minds need to know, I wanna know too. |

I don't think there are any other belt/sprocket combinations that will fit. You're pretty much stuck with stock or the 9 primary conversion. You can probably get a slight effective reduction by switching rear tires. Some (many?) of the tire manufacturers list the installed outside diameter of their tires; figure out what the O.D. of the stock Sync is and shop for something slightly smaller. |

You can either change the primary or convert to chain drive. |

Hughlysses, your suggestion sounds interesting. To have a slight reduction on the transmission through a bit smaller tyre. Does anyones tried before? Any tyre suggestions? No really mechanical intervention on swapping primary gears and cost involved. Only the cost of a new tyre that you end up replacing anyway. |

There is a shop in Australia that will sell you a primary chain and sprocket with taller gearing. I have been thinking about picking it up to see if it improves fuel economy. Only problem is it is for the older bikes, not 08+ http://www.srwmoto.com.au/touring/long-legs-for-04 -07-xb12-taller-gearing/prod_118.html |
