So its gone. I have never heard of a Uly going missing in the UK but I guess some do. Not a common thing though and why the insurance is so cheap. Its not exotic like my RSV-R, which was also stolen, and there is not all that much of a ready market for used (engine maybe) parts. It was, as before, a pro job. The bikes location is/was such that it would need to be carried off my property. Its not as if it is worth very much but I spent a lot of time and effort on this bike to make it work right. Maybe it was taken to turn it into a piece of 21st century lounge art. At least they got a good one. I am not a violent person. A sort of guy that picks up the spider in the bath and puts it out on the lawn. The spider is just doing its thing. On the other hand I am sick and tired of being "put down/abused" for my good nature in many things. I would hope, if I find the people who stole my bike, that they will get the full benefit from the most primitive part of my mind. It will make the likes of the Nazis, The Spanish Inquision/Torquemada and The Khmer Rouge/Pol Pot look like Sesame Street on Ketamine. I would, of course, just teach them about the good points of the Uly. After all education, even with a large blunt knife, can help some. My lose may be my pleasure. I need something out of the deal. Marc - you have my deepest condolences. Not a violent man myself, theft of a valued piece of personal property brings out the reptile. A violation of the highest order. Did you have comprehensive coverage? A new steed wouldn't be that bad, plus half the fun is tricking 'er out. DB |

Sorry to hear this, hope they catch the bastards and the bike is recovered and fine. Knock on wood, we've never had bikes stolen, but we've had stuff vandalized and it sucks. My friends in Atlanta just had their triumph stolen. Got it back 3 weeks later, it was trashed. Maybe I'm a goody-two shoes, but I just don't get it. What possesses people to do this crap? |

Panhead, I second your statement. They only want to ride someone else's girl. Castration should be used. |

DAMN! Really sorry to hear your bike got gaffled! I hope the bike is found, and in one piece! But by the sounds of it, if it was a pro job, probably not Hopefully insurance will cover most of the lost. Besure to get credit for everything you put on the bike, and any immprovements you made. Most insurance companies will give you a $1000 worth of coverage for after market gear. Wish you the best! Make sure to report back. |

When I was a kid a guy down the street from me purchased a brand new 1970 Honda CB750. He brought it home, parked it on his front porch and it was stolen that night. No, he had not secured insurance on it yet. He never replaced it. Sorry about your bike man, I thought this kind of thing only happened in the USA. |

During one of my deployments several years ago I left my bike with a friend so he could enjoy it while I was gone. Someone broke into his garage and stole it by pushing it since they could not find the key to start it. Luckily my friend lived on a very steep hill, so the thief only managed to push my bike down the hill and couldn't make it up the other hill so he tried to hide it but someone saw him stash it behind a public utility building and called the police. I got my bike back but it made all the people in the area tighten up their security mindset. I hope they find your bike. Another trick I have learned working in Special Operations field is to by a cheap pre-paid cell phone w/GPS and hard wire to the battery. We have used this to track targets, should work for a bike and you can track it anywhere as long as it isnt turned off. |

I thank you all for your comments. It is insured "up to the eye balls" but you always loose out on the deal. In my case £500 to £1000. New rear tyre and belt, FST, Remus can, aux lights, heated grips, Tourtech stuff, etc. But for me it is none of this. It is all the time and effort in making the bike the way it was and it did run/handle VERY well. In fact I had just got it to perfection and it needed little else doing. Man what a great bike it can be. I am not even sure about buying another Uly, or any other bike, now as I am sick and tired of worrying about its safety. This is my second time around and it is becoming a problem. |

I have read in several UK bike mags that theft on that side of the pond is a HUGE problem, and quite common. One of the mags did an expo on a trio of guys(in London, I believe) who would 'set up' thieves by placing an unlocked bike in a sketchy area and hiding in a van close by. When the thief would try and take the bike, they would ambush the guy, pull him into the van, and beat the crap out of him. No police involvement at all. Sorry this happened to you, Ulyman. |

So sorry, Uly_man. I can imagine how sick you feel. I hope it works out reasonably well with the insurance. |

I live in one of the worst parts of the UK for bike theft and the reason insurance costs so much. My RSV-R went to the biggest bike theft gang in the whole of the EU and there base was only half a mile away from my own front door. |
