Finally "finished" my Uly-R conversion (1125R fairing on a Uly), more details in the American Sport Bike section here http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/171 43/634109.html?1306239496#POST2054752. Here's a nice side view: I really need to do a proper tidy tail for the Uly and get that ugly rear hugger carbonized. Al |

I like it Al! I too want to know about airflow to the helmet area. Any buffeting? Put some Aprillia decals on it to confuse the masses! |

While the execution was done very well I cannot say that I am a huge fan of the final result. IF there is a noticeable improvement in rider protection I could be convinced to get on board. |

Less buffeting than stock. This fairing pushes the air upwards and outwards better than the very steep stock Uly setup. There is a much bigger bubble to lay down behind than on a Uly. Might even be able to stay relatively dry riding through rain with it, something that the Uly does not excel at. I've only logged about 125 miles on it since the conversion. I'm using it to get to and from the Worlds superbike races in SLC this weekend, will have a better feel for it after this weekend. Some of the morning temps I'll be in will be in the 40s and 50s on the way there in the mountains, we'll see. It's not something I'd do to a Uly that gets used offroad much, but I have an XR400 pure dirt bike and a DRz-400E Dual sport for doing that kind of stuff. I'd still take this down a fire road without hesitation, though. I don't have any plans on turning this into a kit or anything like that. But if folks wanted details of what I did, I have more photos and such. It wasn't trivial by any stretch, I machined a bunch of parts by hand because I don't have an NC mill. |

Al that is beautiful! My dream has been to attach the XBRR front end on my Uly since I first saw Jezza on it in Daytona. If you have a chance to write that conversion up, whitepapers/process, I'd buy them. Greg |

Noticeable? The stock fairing is absolutely useless, and the 1125R fairing was designed in a windtunnel. It is needless to say that my XB sits and rots in my garage while my 1125R soaks up all the highway miles faster, more comfortably, and less exhausting than a Uly. |

Yes, those big, bad and dirty highway miles. How's the comfort off-road? |

Al, Give me a call. Three of us are headed to Miller for the races this weekend. I'd like to get together and say "Hi". Bob |

It is needless to say that my XB sits and rots in my garage I believe it states in the site rules that that's grounds for a lifetime ban from Badweb.

PM sent, Bob. Froggy, Can't say I agree with your position, but I understand it. I have an 1125R (2 actually, one track, one street) and the Uly, and I've always found the Uly to be a more comfy ride to chew up miles with, even with the stock fairing. And that's AFTER putting 1" rise bars and 1" dropped pegs on the street 1125R. You might agree when you're 50 For the street, give me the air cooled engine. For the track, I'll take the rotax. But this Uly-R should be the best of both worlds for the street. It's now the S3T replacement that I always wanted the Uly to be. |
