I'm looking to install a Rider Comfort Kit on my 2006 ULY. The kits say they are for a non cat exhaust. Is my 06 a non cat exhaust? How can I tell? I don't want to order the wrong part.

Thanks

Your bike is non-cat. Only the European models had cats.

European models have a cat starting in 2008. Before than they had none. I know for sure, cause mine is a 2007 model

The catalytic converter is inside the muffler.
You have to take it apart to take a picture.
European specs models have a cat starting with the 2008 model year ("new" engine with square cam cover)

The headers are a little different on the cat equipped engines; hence the need for a different Comfort Kit. If you look at the official photos of the Ulys, occasionally you'll find one showing the European model. IIRC, the forward pipe has a little more pronounced bend in it than the U.S. models.

Hughlysses, I too have noticed that in some photos of the Uly, the front pipe has a different bend to it. I always thought it was just due to the header possibly being made by two different vendors. Now I know the truth. Thanks for sharing that info!

How's your newly re-powered bike running?

Motorbike- it's running great so far. I've put about 170 miles on it since the engine change. I do want to do another oil change first chance I get. Skifastbadly is sending me an extra muffler valve cable he had; hopefully I can get that on next week. I also want to check the primary chain adjustment; it feels just a little buzzy at ~3000-3200 RPM (which is where I'd feel it with the original engine if the chain got loose). After those tweaks I should be able to do a good evaluation of the new vs. the original engine.

So far, I'm very happy with it.

Finally I found something regarding my problem, thanks god!! Hughlysses post about the "Comfort Kit" I bought one (m1907) supposed to fit my bike. Ulysses xb12x. But it does not. Know that u mentioned, can u tell what part number should I buy?? For the record let me tell that I live in Uruguay and getting parts is a headache. My vin starts with a 5 what means it's international. Many thanks in advance.

Lean, the only difference between the kits is just the right scoop to fit the different headers. You can just order the different scoop and use it with your kit, it is part number M0854.7AA

I installed the Comfort Kit last Thursday night. Took about 75 minutes start to finish. I cheated and didn't put the 1/4-20 nut back in the fan shroud, but I put the bolt back in and using it as an alignment pin.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

If you are even just thinking about doing it, just do it and be done with it. It is a day and night difference.

I noticed a big difference on mine right away as well. My fan runs less and less often too.

heres foto of cat exhaust on 09 HDI Uly with homemade scoop.
note how the header curves up sharply, not like us version that gently curves downward.
even newer bikes have an O2 sensor on this front header very close to the head.

I installed one this weekend on a neighbors Uly.
Made the mistake of trying to shortcut the install of the under seat shroud. Oops..
On the newer Comfort Kits the shroud is a more firm plastic than the one on mine. It cracked... I have a new one on order..
