I just bought a 2006 Ulysses. I never considered this bike until I rode one. Well long story short I sold my street bike (Triumph Rocket 3) and my dual sport (KTM 640) The Uly is so much fun to ride that I don't miss either of the other two. I know the 06's only came in Barricade Orange and Black. But my bike is Blue. The previous owner bought it from the dealer as a blue bike. I've read about an 07 air box mod to the 06's. How do I tell if this is a later model air box? Is the 07 mod just the air box cover or is it something more? Thanks |

Take off the blue airbox cover, and post a picture of the black air filter cover lid thing, we can tell you what you have. |

AFAIK, the airbox mod has to do with the inner air filter cover being drilled or modified to increase air flow. While I'm not an authority on colors/yrs, I can confirm that it is possible to change the airbox cover, and thus the color of the bike, without having performed the '07 air box mod. I guess what I'm trying to say at 11:40pm EST is that if the airbox cover is different/newer, that doesn't necessarily mean that the inner air box has been modified. |

07 had the openings on the left side, 06 had them on the right side i think it's related to the header giving more hat to that side. |

Sounds like I have an 06 air box. It only has openings on the right side. Someone must have just changed the color of the bike. |

You just need a whole saw or dremel and make it look like the right side. Takes 10 min tops. |

1" woodworking (flat blade) drill bit. Remove the cover shown, look on the inside. You'll see a grid of casting ribs. I drilled the holes in the middle of grid squares. The three large slots on the side...I drilled six holes (one at each end of each slot), then cut out to connect the dots. You can't really see it in this picture, but I also drilled three 1/4" holes in the very bottom left corner of the baseplate so any water that got into the airbox would drain out when the bike is on the kickstand. They're kinda hidden by the breather hoses and muffler valve cable.
