Wow, that's quite the hefty buy-in. Cool idea though. |

Aeholton has one, I tried it on, it looks cool, but probably would take some getting used to. |

Pretty cool! Probably not much fun if the sun is directly behind you though. -J5 |

Palmer Products have built into an impressive company, in only a few years, with some good products, web site and service. This helmet design looks like a clever idea but why would you want to see what was directly behind you. For me it is only to look out for the cops. I find that the blind spots are what you need to watch. I also can not find a weight for it, which is a worry, as it is must for a helmet. |

Uly_man, right behind you is the biggest blindspot. This eliminates it and then some.
Regarding weight, here is what WebBikeWorld has to say about it.
quote:Helmet Weight The size XL Reevu MSX1 shown here weighs a hefty 1839 grams (4.0 lbs., 7/8 oz.). This isn't the heaviest helmet we've reviewed by any means, but it puts it in flip-up weight territory. Some of the other helmets in this weight range, all flip-ups, include the Schuberth C2 at 1827 grams; the Zeus ZS-3000B at 1842 g; the Nolan N102 at 1850 g; the Nolan X-lite X-1002 at 1855 grams; the KBC FFR at 1867 grams and the Vemar Jiano at 1884 grams. For comparison, other non-flip-up helmets in size XL are the Bell Sprint at 1688 g; the HJC CL-16 at 1702 g and the HJC CL-14 at 1704 grams. Obviously, the internal rear view mirror system accounts for a lot of weight in the Reevu MSX1, but the helmet does feel nicely balanced, all things considered. Score: I'll give the MSX1 a "Neutral" rating for its weight and balance.
It didn't feel heavy to me, but traditionally I have picked heavy helmets, so that might of been a factor. |

I've been riding with my reevu for about 5 months now...and to cut to the chase, I love it and feel handicapped if I ride without it. It's a little heavier than my hjc cl-sp, but not uncomfortable. The mirror does take some getting used to, but once you do get used to it you have a constant idea of what is happening behind you at pretty much all times. It has a fairly wide view, a small turn of my head in the opposite direction and I can see the traffic in the lane right next to me. At lights I can keep a continuous eye on traffic overtaking me from behind while still watching for a light change. The workmanship on the helmet is ok, I do wish it were a little better there. So far it does very well in cold weather, and ok in warm weather. I've read that it's not the best for hot weather, and unfortunately I'm going to be out of the country and will miss the 115 degree heat in vegas this year...so that test will have to wait till next year. The visor opening is smaller than my hjc, less peripheral vision, but still adequate. I'm completely hooked by how much I can see of the road behind me with the rearview mirror...now that I'm used to it, when I ride with a regular helmet I feel naked, almost like taking the rearview out of your car... I hope they continue to improve on the helmet, and I'll without a doubt get another if something happens to this one! |

Neat idea. Probably doesn't work so well when riding 2-up. |

"Uly_man, right behind you is the biggest blindspot. This eliminates it and then some." This is true and I guess it would have helped the last time I was pulled by the cops. On the other hand this was only due to my lack of concentration and because of that I deserved it anyway. I am very happy to try out this helmet anytime. |

It's an interesting concept. I wonder if it fits a "long oval" or "round oval" head better? My wife and I have different shaped heads, and the helmet that feels great to me, she doesn't like, and vice versa. It's all moot, however; as I prefer a Modular helmet over a Full Face. I've fallen pretty heavily for the Schuberth C3. The sales rep at the New York show was very skillful, and really presented it in a good light. It has enough attention to detail that I became instantly infatuated with it. Plus, it fit like they used my head for a template. It will probably be my next helmet.(My wife didn't care for the fit at all; but she really liked the Shoei Multitech) |

Riding 2up takes even more getting used to, it'll still work but you have to lean your head out a little to see around their head. You do get a great view of your passenger's face, too. When that's a view of your 7 year old's face as she enjoys one of her first motorcycle rides...priceless. I'm not sure what shape my head is, but hjc's and shoei's fit me great...the reevu is pretty similar to those. |

Crusty - I'm definitely a long oval type head. Get no burning/rubbing on the forehead with the Reevu. They work great. I've had mine for almost 2 years now. Time for a new one. As for weight mentioned earlier in the thread, it is lighter than my old AGV Longway modular and heavier than my Shark RSV. Road to from FL to Indy and back about a month ago doing 500 miles a day. No discomfort. |

mike, thanks for the first-hand reports. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/r eevu/msx1/ is also a good source, and breaks down teh internal shapes, which are very important to understand i think i'll try ordering one thru cyclegear, that way i can try it on and have a no-hassle return with in 7 days if i find it doesnt fit my dome. |

WOW! I kinda like that. The price seems reasonable too (except the carbon fiber one). |
