After reassembling my bike (rear rocker gasket leak....) my rear wheel brake light switch is not working. I checked the connector under the seat and it is plugged in tightly. I shorted the contacts in the bike side of the connector and the light operates. When I had the bike disassembled I had the rear passenger bracket tied back (see picture). It was that way for about three months (the time it took the dealer to get me the parts). Could this have damaged the switch in some way? I don't see how but....??

If its the same setup as a tuber, its a pressure switch. Take a test light and see if the switch itself changes state like it should (open circuit / closed circuit). If not, bleed the lines and see if that helps. Might just be air keeping the switch from seeing pressure. |

Joe, I had thought about air also so I rapidly pumped the lever to compress any possible air bubble. There is no mushiness to the pedal and the brakes work well. That said, there's no harm in bleeding 'em anyway...it's probably time for a fluid flush anyway. |
