I need a bit of help please! I moved where my manuals are and can't find my XB manual! I have a 2008 XB12XT and need to figure out what the settings are for the heaviest set of rider/passengers it can carry. If anyone has how to calculate or anything please lend a hand (or paw)? Thanks! |

Here is the 2008 XB manual, although I am not sure if the suspension settings it mentions would apply to the XT. https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=1SQzYPuciO0swihbhH F_BzF_5r0QE5ymcWJ0wghv8wGl7agN0HSWDCrmjKyAK&hl=en (Message edited by froggy on April 13, 2011) |

My 2008 XB12XT came with owners manual P/N 99477-08Y when purchased new. I noticed it did not even mention the XT, just the X model so I adjusted the suspension to the settings listed in the one and only suspension chart in the manual. Last Saturday I picked up my new owners manual from my not so local H-D dealer. P/N 99477-08YA. (notice the "A" suffix) It includes several additional pages of items that pertain only to the XT, not the X. It also has 2 completely different suspension setting charts for the X and the XT since they use totally different forks and the fact that the XT is heavier with the bags installed. The biggest difference that I noticed in the settings was the front fork compression settings. The X chart says to set it at 3.5 turns for my fat ass and something like 9 turns for the XT. The other settings are only about 1/8 to 1/4 turn different. I totally re-adjusted all six settings and in my last 90 mile ride, I did notice that the front does not dive as much on braking and seems a little stiffer on bumps, which I expected. Love this bike! |
