Did the breather re-route with an Ebay kit. Will take it out for a ride to see how it works.

I like the way it is screwed to the scoop. I made a mount for mine, but I like that a little better. A few less parts.

Lower RPM roughness seems better now, I can putt along at 2100-2700 without it bucking. You can smell the blow-by when stopped at a light but it's minor. It turned cool during the ride and a white vapor was coming off the breather, kinda looked like a steam engine.

I like the mounting method.

Um.. maybe a dumb question, but are those highway pegs? If that's what I'm seeing, please explain. I'd love to have a way to stretch out from time to time on road trips.

Yep, Hiway pegs from Palmer of the UK. One of the best farkles I've done to the bike. When 2-up I can use the forward pegs & wife can stretch out and use my pegs.

I tried it that way and it looked better this way to me. If I find the filter getting saturated I'll swap them, 5 min job. I assume the splooge will shoot straight down & collect while the gasses will turn the corner to the filter but time will tell.

Nice job Ronmold! Looks a lot more high-tech than the simple piece of clear vinyl hose that I use for my catch can.

I have my breather filter mounted up in the air box, right next to the air filter. It still seems that I occasionally get a slight whiff of oily fumes.

Can I ask how much your setup cost? Looks real nice though. Thanks!

Not trying to be critical but wouldn't the filter being located in a negative pressure area just suck the crud back into the airbox?

I kind of wondered that too but it seems to work fine. I do get some oily wet crud accumulating in the clear tubing, mostly when riding in colder weather. I have a drain petcock on the bottom of that tube and just drain it occasionally.

I pulled the airbox cover off last night and inspected the air filter and the breather filter. The air filter was clean as new without a trace of oil on it and the breather filter was real clean with just a slight oily smell to it. Oh by the way, that was after running this setup about 4500 miles last summer.

I know what you mean, Xbimmer, but this setup seems to be separating the spooge out just as it was intended to so I will leave it as is for now. Since all of the tubing runs downhill, except where it tees off to the breather, I believe gravity is doing the separating of oil from air. I originally had the breather filter mounted down below the left air scoop but did not like the way it looked. It also seemed to produce more of a noticeable hot oil smell when riding in town.

I found a similar catch can on the internet with 1/4" hose adapters instead of the 3/8" size like comes out of the engine. Does anyone think that 1/4" will suffocate the engine and defeat the purpose of the breather re-route? Or am I over thinking this?

It was $59 and free shipping PM if you want more info. Buell uses 3/8 and they have dual hoses that are short, I wouldn't go 1/4.
Motorbike, hardly looks like 4 mi. on her, let alone over 4500, waaay too clean! There's someone who has pride in his ride.

Thanks Ronmold. I do take a lot of pride in keeping my bike clean but then again, I don't ride it every day like a lot of you people do. It is my only toy and I pretty much just ride it for recreation, rarely if ever, to work. I like to keep things I enjoy and my job completely separated. With that said, the bike rarely gets ridden in rain and never on gravel roads. Much easier to keep clean that way. I have about 5400 on it now. A good season worth of riding to me is about 5 - 6000 miles. I would love to ride more but have two teenage daughters and full time job w/overtime keep me pretty busy.

Sometimes I wish I weren't so meticulous with this stuff. I takes up a lot of my time. Thanks.

Me too! I ride mine every single day that's it's not raining or snowing when I leave the house...AND I like to keep it clean! Keeps me very busy : )

I ride to and from work every day- makes it MUCH mor bearable to go to work!

This mod helps a lot on young pre 08 bike engines. The post 08 bikes have a OEM valve fitted and do not need it. EU bikes anyway.

The system, in this post, is very nice, neat and cheap. This sort of thing is not cheap in the UK though, is $80 plus and crude.

I just teed the two vents together and ran a single pipe down to the front of the exhaust pipe. You do not need a filter and the water vapour just burns off. You see and smell nothing. Cheap ($10) and easy (30 min).

Andy, that $19 one has 1/4" (1/8" IP) fittings, we need 3/8 and Pegasus didn't have a 3/8. Pegasus must buy theirs from the actual manufacturer who also makes the bigger ones. Yes it could be a lot cheaper but hey, the guy's a Minnesotan, don't ya know!
