So I am a couple hundred miles from 10K. I will be putting on new tires, bearings, and buying a belt for reassurance. Other then what the maintenance book calls for, what do you feel is most important? |

Primary chain adjustment, tranny oil change, and engine oil change. If you haven't already got a maintenance book then you should buy one. |

I like to change the brake fluid, fork oil and look over engine mounts and various wiring, hoses and fasteners every 10000 too. |

Put that new belt on and save the old one for your spare. Lube the interactive exhaust valve actuator cable, throttle cable, and clutch cable. Replace/repair the #77 connector if you haven't already. Put the Erik Buell Racing mounting hardware on your front disk BEFORE it starts pulsing. |

The MOST important part is - Inspect Critical Fasteners. A critical fastener is one that, if it becomes loose or falls off you die. Zack |

What are the critical fasteners? Can you give an example of ones that should definataly be checked? I was thinking like head bearing torque, axle torque and engine isolator mount torque. I was going to be doing my 10k service this weekend and was checking the service manual. I see that is states to check torque on critical fasteners. It doesn't really say what fasteners to check. |

I check em all but ones that are known to cause problems are shifter linkages and motor mounts including isolators. After you use the bike a while, you'll learn which ones loosen up. A little blue locktite will take care of them. After that it's just a quick inspection of everything. |
