So with much deliberation I decided to buy another Uly. Well obviously I have seen the production numbers of the 2010's but I have my heart set on finding a 2010 (X or XT). I had one lined up but the seller backed out (once he saw the production numbers). So does anyone know of anyone selling a 2010? I know its a slim chance but I figured I would try! |

You could always buy a 2008 or 2009 and install a 2010 rear wheel, Comfort Kit, headers, front O2 sensor, wiring harness, ECM, and turn signals, and then you'd have it! (the thought has occurred to me) (Message edited by Hughlysses on March 24, 2011) |

Then you'd still have the ugly grey frame |

Crusty- Thanks, but yours has a few too many miles for me. And if nothing else I will get an 09 in the last case scenario. Hugh- Yeah.....About that..... Froggy- Powder coating does wonders (havn't you seen the pics of my 1125 and 12r)? |

Let's see, the back wheel upgrade parts are about $400. Comfort Kit is ~$130? I wonder what the headers, ECM, and wiring harness would cost? ~$1000? Sounds like you could do the functional upgrade of an 08 or 09 up to 2010 specs for ~$1500? |

Talked to an owner of a 2010 last night at the local bike night. Seems for 2010 production of X's and XT's together total 36. The changes of my acquaintance parting with his go down to just below zero. |

What header upgrade? The second oxygen sensor? Wiring harness for the same reasons? Would you need both headers, or just the front? I have an 09. With comfort kit.So Wheel, header, What else would I need? Couldn't I just get my ECM reprogramed, and use my current harness, or does that second O2 sensor change everything? |

Hugh - Drill/weld second O2 bung, its one wire that gets added to the wiring harness/ECM, get 2010 Erik Buell Racing Race ECM. Total = $300. |

Hey Froggy- Do we have any evidence anywhere if the front O2 sensor made drastic differences? Also- Do you have any idea if there are any schematics available from anyone who has done that upgrade? |

Whisperstealth- yea, for front O2 sensor. The headers are all one piece. Froggy has a good idea though; that wouldn't be very hard and would save several hundred bucks. I think we had at least one Badwebber that owned (owns?) both an older Uly and a 2010. I was always curious as to how much different the upgraded FI would make. |

I think there may have been some change to the fuel pump in the 2010 also. Don't forget there were a few 2010 XPs as well. |

"Then you'd still have the ugly grey frame" Whoa Froggy, that's personal opinion if I've ever heard it! I happen to like my ugly grey frame. I also like the engine being a different color than the frame. I had a chance to buy an 09 for only $500 more than my 08 but turned it down because I liked the look of the 08 better, besides it is a 25th anniversary special, as all 08's are. As we all know, resale value did not play a part in my decision as I don't think it would make any difference. I'll forgive you though, we are all entitled to our own opinions. Concerning the changeover to a 2010 model, are the injectors different as well? I was just wondering because of the added 02 sensor if maybe they changed the injectors too. |

If you want a 2010 Uly there is a guy selling one in the Seattle area. Check Craigslist. The only problem is he wants way too much money for it. |

To find them all, you've got to do separate searches for both "Ulysses" and "XB12X", but I still don't see any 2010's listed. |

You should just post a wanted add on Seattle's craigslist. The guy had his bike, red XT with full bags and low mile, posted for over a month without any action. He wanted $10K and he knew he was fishing, since he even mentioned it. He was probably 3-4K too high on the price based on other ULYs sold recently. I just bought by '07 for $4700 w/ 7K miles, so much less than the '10 for $10k. |

I noticed at my local dealer that they had used FJR1300 bikes and each year older was listed as $1000 cheaper. So 10K for a 2010 ULY isn't super out of line when you consider that it certainly is a rare bike, especially compared to the 06 through 09 years. It also is way different than the 07 bike. Any year Uly in my opinion is a nice ride. $4700 for a bike that has fully adjustable suspension and ultra cool mechanical engineering is a steal. |
