I have heard from a very reliable source that Froggy believes if an engine isn't contributing to forward motion then it should be off.
I felt lucky today that my fuel light came on at 128 mi. This winter has been real bad for mileage. The combination of colder than normal temps with mostly short trips has kept mileage in the low to mid thirties. Hoping for warmer weather soon before they switch to summer gas.

To further state a fact mentioned by Froggy, my fuel mileage dropped by approximately ten percent on all of my vehicles when the gas companies went to the alcohol blends. Hell of it was, when first introduced, they charged ten percent more for it.

If given ten percent by volume of alcohol in the gas, and it produces ten percent less gas mileage, why is it there, and where did it go?

Froggy,

At 250lbs, just how high can I air the tires up on my Uly? I'm at 40psi now. I know 62 would be way to much. The tire says 42. Thanks.

I can't answer that for you. The max PSI on the tire is the lowest common denominator for max pressure based on a bunch of factors, that is why Tire "A" has 42PSI max, while Tire "B" has 44PSI. I'm sure you could safely exceed it a bit, but I'm young and stupid and like to push my luck. : )

Apart from anything else one of the things I love about this bike is that you can choose what you want. You can ride it like you stole it, less mpg, or you can ride it like a golf cart, save on gas, and both of which will still be fun.

I have had many bikes but never been precious about them, you can always get another, but the Uly is something else. It is not perfect and it does need a few mods to sort it out. It is however a very unique bike and a great machine.

"ride it like a golf cart, save on gas"

I rode mine like a 70+ mph golf cart up the turnpike yesterday and got 114 miles out of 2 gallons of gas! Again, it was stop n go traffic, 45-55 mph for 53 miles on the way in to work, sat for 11.5 hours, then 70+ mph most of the way home. I'm hoping the higher miles per gallon is one of the bright spots about hitting the 20K mark with the XT.

Guess I better pile the miles on the X to get it to that point sooner, all in the name of cost savings (on gas, not tires : ))
