Just a quick question about the XB wheels. Has there been any difference in the XB wheels (especially the front) over the years? Is a '03 XB9 wheel any different (especially in strength) than a '09 XB12X wheel? I am aware of the stronger rear '10 wheel. This question is more about the front wheels, and buying used spares. |

The XB12X wheels have slightly more "meat" in the rim area than other XB wheels to make them more resistant to damage. So an 03 XB9 front wheel would be the structurally the same as any other XB front wheel, except for the XB12X. IF you don't ride off-road or otherwise abuse your wheels, it'll probably be fine. The 2010 rear wheel isn't really any stronger than earlier wheels, it's just got a much improved bearing arrangement. |

Both front and rear wheels on the XBX are one pound heavier (each) than the standard XBR,S,SS,SCG wheels. The bike itself is heavier than those others but I use both on my Uly and have had no problems. |

I was going to pick up a XB9 wheel and mount it up with a more aggressive dirt tire for off-road. Probably not a good idea. |

Why not get the XB9 wheel and mount your road tire on it? Mount the aggressive dirt tire on the original Uly wheel. |

That sounds like the thing to do. What kind of tire(s) front rear or both ? |

So, how can you tell a Uly wheel from a non-Uly wheel? Are there any markings that would indicate which it is? I have a back up rear wheel, but not sure if it's a Uly wheel. (Message edited by cybrdyke on March 19, 2011) |

XB12X/XP wheels were only available in one color, Magnesium Tone. They very well could be powdercoated after the fact, I saw no easy to spot differences |

Thanks Froggy. Mine are both that color, so I reckon I'm good to go. |
