I'm looking for some opinions, which tires? Do I save some money and get either D616 or Bridgestone BT-021? Or for a little more money get either Dunlop Roadsmart, Pirelli Angel, or Conti Road Attack? I've already looked at some of the reviews online, but wanted a little more Uly specific opinions. Oh yeah, this is for a XT that sees all weather, and little off pavement. |

The roadsmart's were excellent for me! Couldn't be happier with them. I got 11,300 miles out of the rear, changing out the front at the same time with 7000 miles. - It has thread left, and I saved it for a spare. At 11,300 miles the steel belt was just starting to show in a couple areas, so I rode the tire for all it was worth... I've ridden all over the place, and on different surfaces. I live on a dirt & gravel road, and in the hills with bad roads. Been out of state a few times with lots of highway/freeway miles. They gripped fine in dry and wet conditions. Seemed to hold fine till the very end. I go on out of state runs 4 or more times a year, and consider these to be great touring tires. I believe they would work better than the D616's in terms of mileage, and will do okay off road if your not doing a lot of it. I too have an XT. Weigh 250, and pack a lot of gear. Right now, I have on a set of shinko ravens 009's. $170.00 for a set shipped. Had to try them. If you have the cash for roadsmarts, and want more off road ability, you might want to try the Pirelli Scorpion Trails. Would love a set, just a lot of $. Good luck on your search! |

I ordered a set of the new Conti Road Attack 2 tires today. They should be in sometime mid week. But sadly, I won't be trying them out until all the "anti-skid" stuff gets washed off the roads here in central PA. I really liked the regular RA's that I've had in the past. |

I'm about to replace my Conti Road Attacks with another set I picked up a while ago. I cant wait to try the Road Attack 2s. It'll be another 5k miles before I get another set though. The Road Attacks that are on there now went 7k miles or so. The only reason I didn't get more out of the back is cuz there is a HUGE flat spot due to lack of twisties in these parts. I could have got a couple thousand more if I used the side of the tire more. They have a rounded profile so they have a great contact patch at any angle. |
