As part of my winter project, I’m going with fat bars, losing the handlebar bag and cleaning up that whole area. So I’m looking for a small tank bag (magnetic type is OK – I can epoxy magnets on the underside of the air box cover) and I need a plastic window on top for my GPS. I don't want to clutter up the new handlebars w/ a Ram mount. Any suggestions on a small tank bag with a top window for the Uly? Thanks |

Johnboy, The glare will make your gps unreadable during the day. When you go under an overpass you'll be able to read it and after it gets dark. First hand experience. |

I use the Held Slide-Rapid bag on my Uly... works good, and I have power running into it to charge my cell. http://www.heldusa.com/sliderapid.html BTW, what fat bars are you going to put on it? (Message edited by blugorilla on December 16, 2010) |

Blugorilla How did you fit that bag to the air box cover? (Message edited by gamdh on December 16, 2010) |

I use an RKA mini that attatches with straps to the front two bolts in the air box cover and the rear strap I loop around the seat tongue. Has plenty of clearance for the gas cap. FWIW, placing your GPS in a position where you have to look away from the road is not a real good idea. With the Ram, I can at least see what's in front of me. Define small. How many liters? Held makes good quality stuff. Made in Germany. Lots of features. Nice small used one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Held-Orion-strap-mo torcycle-tank-bag-NO-RESERVE-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQha shZitem45f77b2dc4QQitemZ300504788420QQptZMotorcycl esQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Wolfman makes really good stuff as well. Not as tech looking as the held stuff, and a little cheaper. - Not by much though. There stuff is made in Colorado, USA. Chase Harper is USA made I think. So are roadgear's: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-PT-Compact-Sport- Tank-Bag-NEW-Made-USA-/250353923445?pt=Motorcycles _Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a4a41b575 Motopak's look pretty cool too. Here's their "pocket": http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motorcycle-Strap-Mo unt-Tank-Bag-NEW-MOTOPAK-GTX-Pocket-/160519572596? pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item255fb64c 74 |

Pocket looks good then. Marsee has small ones. Cortech makes a small one that looks good. If not in a hurry research all the main makers. Ebay has a bunch of used one's if you want to try a couple out. Been my experience that you think you want one size, and end up wanting another. |

+1 on the Cortech. Has a raincover as well. I keep my EZ pass in the map compartment.

Kriega - The very best bike system I have ever seen/used and with a 10 year warranty. The quality of the product just makes it nice to own. Something like the build/quality of the way it used to be. Built to last. |

FYI! Don't put your GPS in a sealed map pocket on a sunny day. I made that mistake a couple times. Each time the GPS ceased operation, and when I pulled it out of the map picket it was about 200 degrees. It restarted without issue luckily, but now I know better. Ram mount that thing to avoid greenhouse effect. Save the map pocket for when there's precip. and no sun. |

both the Kriega 5 or 10 look great - 100% waterproof, so no rain cover needed... under 100 bucks w/ the tank bag adapter - i need to lose the gps in a map window idea and make a proper mount. http://www.kriega.us/collections/kriega-tail-tank- bags
