What I've heard is that you can't just install side bag brackets without the trunk bracket being installed also. The side brackets strength and integrity rely on ALL brackets being installed. Whether you want to use just the side bags, just the trunk, or all three is not an issue.   Jaybirdxb12x Posted on Friday, December 10, 2010 - 07:44 pm:        Oh I have been running with out the trunk bracket just side bag brackets and have had my Side cases more then full I even mounted an MTB on one side for a 2k road trip. I have riden a total 25k almost always with side bags and no problems. The guy is saps to be sending me the bracket so I guess that will bring an end to my endurance test   Blugorilla Posted on Friday, December 10, 2010 - 09:31 pm:        If what I am told is correct, these were either sold as a 2 piece set with just the side bags, or a 3 piece set with 3 cases. You should be able to run with just the top case, just leave all the brackets on the bike.
