I recall how much I wanted to try these when I had my Uly but they were out of reach on price. I see motorcycle superstore had them on sale right now.

any one else want to tell about your long term experiences with these. I read some of the early threads but it is the end of the riding season and I thought more folks could chime in...... tanks |

I have 6 K on a Trail front and 1 K on a Trail rear, and I am very pleased with them. Will see more over the full life of the tire, but I really like the way the bike handles with them. |

I heard on ADV (this thread) that the Scorpion Trails are supposed to be available in the correct size for the uly starting 2011. --just something to think about in case you care about having the right width. |

They, in fact, will be available in 180 series very soon. I have a tire source here in Denver who has already got an order in for me and for a pretty good price as well. |

Hey Mike, tanks for the link. Very impressed with the additional aux plug for tender and electrics. Very clean. Nice Job. |

Thanks! I've since added a couple other flush plugs like this: for my and my passengers heated gear in that same trim piece. |

No problems with watts and amps (forgive my ignorance with all things electrical). How does the bike handle all that extra demand? From the relay box that you set up? |

The electrical box doesn't use much power at all, it's everything plugged into that uses the power. The bike has roughly 140 available watts for accessories. Here's the wattages of my extra stuff: Fog lights (2x 35 watt HIDs) = 70 watts Extra LED Tail/Brake lights = 5 watts LED marker lights = 5 watts Heated jacket or suit = 50 watts Heated Grips = 30 watts High Beam = 55 watts Ipod = 5 watts GPS = 5 watts I don't run more than two of my largest three power hogs at the same time (heated suit, fog lights, and high beam), in which case it doesn't matter what else I've got going on, my voltage light stays green. Idle cuts the power output significantly, so I try not to idle much with lots of electrical stuff on. How does the bike handle all that extra demand? Actually the bike makes the same amount of electrical power no matter how much you're demanding of it, it simply wastes away anything not used. So as long as you're staying below its maximum power output, your not straining anything at all. (Message edited by Mikef5000 on December 06, 2010) |

"Excess power" is also directly proportional to RPM. So at idle, you can be overwhelming the system easily, while at speed, you have a ton of margin. You can solve that problem with a clever way to detect and adapt to those different circumstances. Alex's bike does . |
