The front cylinder header-to-engine is leaking a little. The flange on the header is loose and the nuts are rusty. I have never had the header off and just wondered if anyone could let me know what parts are used to put it together before I start the job. At the moment I have some new C clips and nuts. I was given them with a back order from a dealer. |

Unless something breaks (one of the studs), you should only need two flange gaskets and some copper RTV to seal the header to the muffler inlet. Shouldn't need a C clip, unless one broke. Use loctite on the nuts. Loosen the WHOLE exhaust, not just the flange you're working with, and retorque it IN SEQUENCE when you reassemble it. The muffler hangar straps are slated as single use, but I've re-used up to three times without issue; just don't over-torque and stretch the band. |
