Hey, Any of you out there have immediate access to the OEM battery make & model#? I'm at a cafe taking care of some biz and my ADHD brain started thinking about winter and dead batteries. I'm thinking of replacing my OEM with some slick gell or some sort of upgrade replacement. I'm in need of a distraction, so I thought I'd browse around a bit for battery options. |

I just got a new Deka (same as East Penn), but this one seems interesting: http://www.braillebattery.com/index.php/batteries/ b14115/# Also, there's another option - someone here did a custom install with this: http://www.batterymart.com/p-odyssey-pc545-battery .html ... |

Anyone have experience with these? http://www.svrbatteries.com/battery_page.php?bid=1 And I do appreciate your suggestions Johnboy. But I'd like to avoid any altering of the stock battery position, if possible. I'll check the dimensions and see if that Braille Battery would work. It seems like a potent battery. |

My '06 still has its OEM in it. Gonna get another OEM one when/if it ever dies. |

For price / value ratio I dont think you can beat the batterymart 'bigcrank' (no inappropriate comments here - tho I do wonder what they we're really trying to sell...anyway I digress)ETX-14. Ive got these USA made AGM batteries in all 4 bikes with no issues. About $85 delivered to doorstep in NW. The non-AGM China batteries at local stores are more expensive. I buy USA stuff whenever I can - |

Any thoughts on the Yuasa high performance, maintainance-fee unit compared to these others? http://www.yuasabatteries.com/batteries.php#anchor mf |

Yuasa does not make an AGM even though they say it is, anything that you have to/or can pour acid into is not a true sealed AGM and Yuasa is more expensive than a real AGM such as a Buell, Oddesy or a Batterys Plus anyways. A tru AGM has the acid powder mat and lead foil compressed together tightly so there is no vibration and giving it more area(foil) for deeper cycles and more power. Also since there is no liquid in them there is no boiling or sulfating of the plates which causes the battery to loose plate area and loose power. True AGM batteries should come fully charged, can be mounted in any position and have no vents, and last for 6 years or so and can not freeze. I have an original battery in a 2001 Blast, it is the same battery as in the Ulysses. Winter storage is simply to fully charge it and disconnect it from any parasitic drain. It will be good next spring, no float charging needed. I believe the Erik Buell Racing battery is a L-ion, little batteries all soldered together like a Dewalt battery then wrapped in electrical tape. My son sells Yuasa batteries at his store and I am always teasing him "Yuasa sells batteries? I didn't know that?" Truely, until they stop using 18th century technology there is no reason to buy them. They must be hopelessly entrenched in how things used to be done, kind of like H-D(spit) |

I put a Yuasa battery in my '06 Uly in the summer of '06 and it is still working fine. It does stay on a battery tender when bike is parked. Paid $43 for the battery; I'm happy. |

Here's the Tootal link on the Odyssey Batt. mod - if I wasn't so lazy, I'd do this: LINK: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/397081.html . |

Nice job, but it's way more trouble than I want to go through. I really don't have the work space to make all that happen either. |

If money was no object I would get a Speedcell or similar battery. I would like some info on Erik's race battery. Maybe I'll inquire. |

I have a speedcell, I am not impressed with its longevity. I am currently trying to see about getting it replaced, but it looks like mine is getting swapped to the Erik Buell Racing unit, which is superior in design anyway. |

I just replaced my battery with an OEM. ULY battery has the same part number as the V-rod. As long as you keep them warm with a battery tender they'll last a long time |

Froggy, Thanks for the tip! What do you know about the Erik Buell Racing batt? Is it an A123 setup? Lithium ion? |

I'd love to go with one of these: http://shop.testsycl.com/ 1.5 pounds and the size of a 12 ounce can. This one's 240 CCA, and he's coming out with a larger one next month. |
