So the Uly has been weeping oil down the left side around the oil cooler. I thought it was one of the lines. I took it apart yesterday and cleaned everything. Re-installed the lines with everyones favorite, teflon tape. Took it for about a 30 mile ride and it was still leaking. I wiped it clean last night and rode it to work today. As soon as I got into the parking lot I check for the leak again. Both lines are dry but the oil cooler has oil on the bottom of it. Do you think I caught a rock or something in the cooler? |

You might have. Take off the cooler and have it pressure tested at a shop. If the core is leaking it can be re-cored or buy a new one. Do not try and use any type of internal sealer as it can damage the engine. You should not need to use tape on the unions and its best not to anyway. |

DO NOT use teflon tape on -AN fittings. The threads don't seal, the taper on the end does. Don't overtorque the fittings, either. DAMHIK, but they have a very specific torque spec because you can actually twist the male fitting where it joins the cooler itself, causing more(different) leaks. Pull the fittings off, clean them REAL GOOD, check for burrs on the tapered ends, and reassemble with the proper spec torque. Assemble DRY. I think my current cooler has maybe 1/8 turn beyond spec for good measure, and it's staying dry. |

The cooler on my 06 leaked at around 35k miles IIRC. Did the same diagnosis steps- it was definitely the cooler core. Had a small split somewhere. Cost around $125 then. |
