The 2010 Uly has enough upgrades that I was ready to trade my '06 in for one. Then they pulled the plug on Buell before I made my move. Naturally I'm a bit bummed out about that but until recently I had only heard of 2010 XT's and XP's being bought. How many of you got a 2010 XB12X? |

I bought a 2010 XB12X, 'used' with 15 miles in June. I still have my '06 with 62K miles... I alternate bikes each day =)... |

I just stopped at the HD shop in Grand Rapids Michigan, and they still have their 2010 XP. the bike has around 350 miles, and has been dropped in their driveway. broken turn signal and a few scratches, but I'd bet they will let it go for around $6500. |

Gamdh, Your opinion would be very unique in that you currently have both! So how bad am I missing out? What differences do you notice the most? Please enlighten me. Seems like a percieved reliability thing in the back of my mind would be reduced with the '10, although my '06 is reliable. It's still in the back of my mind... |

2010 XB12X here. First Buell so cannot compare it to any previous versions, but have had bikes for quite a while, so: ERGOs: good. Very comfortable for long rides, nimble enough for 'around town' riding. Big enough to pack for a week on it. POWER: plenty of power for the type of bike it is. (I consider it a 'rough-road sports-touring' bike with no illusions of taking it up single-tracks). I have done multi-day trips in both hot (90+) and cold (high 30s), sea-level and mile-high. Never really noticed much difference either way. Bike runs like a champ in all environments. HEIGHT: (since I see it asked all the time).. I have a 30" inseam and am comfortable in city traffic with it. You just gotta learn to drop a cheek to plant a foot. RELIABILITY: Time will tell, but the only problem I have had so far (3k+ miles) is the low-fuel light / trip meter does not come on. Will eventually get this fixed under warranty. Or not. MODS: Just installed the Palmer bracket (still figuring out what setting I like), ordered the Erik Buell Racing ECM (hasn't arrived yet). |

Dan I would say the out of the box, the '10 is more refined, runs better stock than the '06 did stock. With that said, my '06 has had a lot of tweaks and really runs well (hope I didn't just jinx it). The seat of my pants feels like the '06 has more get up an go than the stock '10. The improvements from '06 to '10 are pretty evident and are well documented. But I also noticed some things that were not really discussed but things that I like. On the '06 the fuel pump plug was behind the frame.. hard to get to. On the '10 its now under the seat. The negative battery ground under the seat has been relocated and is much easier to access. Pretty sure the fuel overflow was moved over a bit so it won't dump fuel in a helmet hanging on the holder. The head lights are much better on the '10. I did not like the stock '10 seat, I now have a 'tall' seat which is of course the stock '06 seat. The newer stock ECM does really seem to be a big improvement over the '06, but again my '06 is pretty far from stock. I like the fact that with the '06 I can still use ECMSpy (yes I know I can get the new version to work with '10... seems kind of complicated to get it to work) As of right now... I think I still like the '06... but the might be because I have 60K+ miles on that one and only about 4500 on the '10 =). |

Gamdh, There seems to be a lot of guesswork about the difference in the headlights. Sooner or later, someone just has to take them both apart and compare the reflectors. Exactly what is the difference with the battery ground? |

I drove to Oregon last Fall to get the only 2010 X model that I could find in the Northwest. Ulysses Obsessive disorder struck me the same as when I first saw the Ulysses. Sold my 06 this spring with 26K miles on it. I now have 8K miles on the 2010 and have no regrets. The 2010 has many subtle improvements and a few major ones and I am planning on keeping it for many years to come. |

Awww. She's a cutie! Looks like she takes after her dad. The change in the ground cable looks to be for ease of access. Still bolted to the subframe. I'm just trying to wrap my mind around the improvements and changes in order to evaluate similar changes I can do to my '06 that would be benneficial to me, much like I've done with my '50 FL. Thanks to everyone for posting! Gamdh, thanks for the pics and info! Please keep them coming. (Message edited by panhead_dan on November 14, 2010) |
