Theres some wheels on Ebay for sale. The ad says " FITS ALL S3, S2, M2, S1 and X1 tube frame models". Will these fit on a XT? I read about the added reinforcement on the X's but I dont do much if any offroading at all. I tried a search but kinda new to the Buells so thought I might ask you guys. Thought the blue Uly XT would look good with white wheels, or maybe even orange ones |

If you want white or orange wheels, you can get your stock ones powder coated, or buy one of the available OEM colors.

THIS is a pair of tube frame Buells:
Significantly different wheels. People have made custom spacers to put XB wheels on tubers, but nothing to go the other way that I know of. For your XT, you need wheels off an XB or an 1125. Any of them. XB9, XB12, 1125R or CR. Lighting, Firebolt, Ulysses, CityX...you name it, they're all the same wheel. But the giveaway is, they all look the same as your wheels now - just different colors. Early XB9 bikes had white wheels with polished lips; they were sharp. |

I'm looking at the X wheels for my XT because of the amount of off pavement/bad pavement riding I'm doing. I assume that any non-X wheel is the same as my XT. Right or wrong? |

Right. X is an XB wheel, with a metal "rim strip" welded in for added strength against rocks and potholes. And stairs. And curbs. |

Stairs? I'd like to hear that story. BTW I've had the pleasure of seeing Rat's Buell stable. Pretty impressive. Did i count 7 bikes? |

6. Well...5.5 (one's a Blast). And a disassembled '91 Dodge Spirit R/T. Stairs are easy going down. Up...takes some forethought LOL. And yes, DC Metro PD *frowns* upon these things taking place within the confines of DC proper. (Message edited by ratbuell on November 12, 2010) |

Yes they do. I remember once I went downtown after midnight cuz I like to ride around and see the monuments at that time. I had picked up my daughter from her dorm at GW and we were riding two up. A little bit into the ride the bike was a bit squirrley and I remembered I'd forgotten to adjust the suspension. I pulled onto a big cement curb by the WW II memorial, dismounted and cranked the suspension up. After getting back on and getting ready to go the nighttime suddenly became day. A cruiser lit me up from 10 yards behind me ( also on the curbing) with what seemed like a zillion candlepower. Rather than wait to get jacked up, we took off at legal speeds and continued on the tour. He followed up for about a mile and continued to light us up with his spotlights - but never put on the blue lights. He finally peeled off ( sure he ran my plate and found nothing). So yes, the really frown on that kind of thing down there |

I WANT that ST3! Almost bought one. Came real close, it was a tough call. Went with the Uly instead. Couldn't pass at the price, and interest rate. Still want to get one someday... |

Whisper - thanks...but it's a '95 S2 with the accessory S2T bags and fairings. It's a great bike, but is a totally different ride than my Uly. But...I love 'em both Don - funny you mention WWII, that was the last big project I did when I was installing lighting and dimming. I wired that whole memorial and installed/configured the dimming and control. Less than half of that memorial is above grade. It's also what got me started enjoying "off-pavement" riding in DC. I had my FLHP at that time, and was sitting waiting for traffic so I could go home. And sitting. And sitting. Couple DC Motor folks pulled up to me as I sat waiting on this:
The gal (!) on point pulled her FLHTP up next to me, and motioned for me to follow her. Her partner rode cleanup, and I got a tour of some very nice little cart-path trails on the way to ...dammit, can't remember the name...the bridge right there at the Kennedy Center to get on the GWP. heehee (Message edited by ratbuell on November 13, 2010) |

Biker police women turn me on! Can't help it. Had one pull me over, and ask if I had any warrants. I told her no, she smiled and said "Don't wanna go fort a ride down town?" I looked right at her, back at her bike, back at her, and said, "well, ya, I kinda do." She laughed and sent me on my way. |
