Been using this stuff for 9000 miles and just noticed it was intended for big twins...Hope I didn't screw the clutch up or anything, has anyone ever used it? I am going to fill the primary hole with Amsoil this weekend and use the last of the Drag Specialties 20/50 engine oil up so I can go Amsoil in both holes next time. Still have a couple of K&N 177 filters to use as well. http://halshd.com/eshopprod_cat_6246-39590_brand_1 096-370-215-317_product_880723.DRAG_SPECIALTIES_PR IMARY_OIL_F.htm |

It's probably just fine. Big twins have their alternators in there too. |

Does that mean that in your opinion that a 1203 cc two cylinder motorcycle engine is not a big twin?? At one point in my life I can recall that they were the biggest of the big. But I guess that with so many 1800s out there 1200 is becoming insignificant. |

I think Kawi even has / had a 2 litre Vtwin. Pistons the size of old oil cans! |

The difference is..............Big twins don't have gears meshing together in their primary. You probably did not damage anything but the transmission "should" use a lubricant designed for the shearing effect of the gears. |

Ronmold, That lump of metal designed to look like a bike, is about worthless. Other than people looking at it as a conversation piece. "Bikes" that don't ride, suck. |

Thanks guys, I do have one more quart of it so I may go ahead and use it up since I payed for it and all, I was just worried I may cause a problem and I cannot afford for the Uly to be down. |

Each res on the bike holds lube for a different application/need. A "Big Twin" has 3 res' - Engine, Primary and Tranny. Sportster based have two - Engine and Pri/Tran joined. I recommend Red Line to my Big Twin customer because they have tailored lubes for EACH application. For my Sportster and Buell customers, Red Line for the Engine, H-D Formula+ for the Pri/Tran. Very important for the H-D engines to get an additive for the Trans or the faces pit quickly. Bob's yer uncle.... |

I just switched to 60 wt. amsoil in the pri/tran. Seems to work well. Of course I still use the 20/50 in the engine. The main thing is you don't want to use any gear oils as they contain an additive that affects the coatings on the stator. |
