Just did my first mod from info off this great board. Made a set of lowers and installed them yesterday. Rode the bike to work today and....wow, what a difference. I was contemplating a madstad or other windshield adjusting bracket system, but now I will wait, if not completely disregard that idea. These made a world of difference in my commute. I travel about 40 miles to work, some of it on the FL Turnpike at speeds reaching 75-80. The lowers reduced the turbulent air significantly and only cost me about $15 and a couple hours of my time to construct and install... And I'm the measure twice, or thrice and cut once type... I'm at the hospital right now, wife is getting ready to have our second child, so no pics right now, but I will post some soon. Thanks for the great site and the idea for these... May have saved me a couple hungees on this one |

I just tried making my own, bolting them under the fairing, but they are not wide enough. They did seem to help a little, though. I will make new ones and attach them to the fork tube, like others have done here, with great success. Can`t wait to see your picts. Congrats on your new arrival! Hope all is well. I understand the no time thing, I have a 4 month old son. |

Well, here is the left side... I may modify them a bit more to get a little more air back to the scoops, but they are working great! The Uly got it's first mud bath this morning, has it was raining hard when I came home from the hospital at 5 a.m... Mom and baby are doing great! Oh... BTW, one of the reasons I decided to buy this bike... it was signed by THA MAN!!!

Your bike and mine are brothers! Both blue and made in the same month/year. I made a light bar that resides where your lower mount lives. You used the "beak" bolts, right? If you remake your lower mount out of aluminum bar stock, you could get some driving lights on that! How are the tops mounted? |

For safety sake, I'd round off those 90's so that you don't end up ramming your head into them or a knee. Now that would freaking hurt. |

Natex... it is aluminum barstock, and yes mounted using the beak bolts... I just blasted it in my media blaster with aluminum oxide media then painted it black.. The tops are mounted with a hose clamp around the tube and a couple angle brackets. I have some motolights that already have their own brackets that will go on soon, so don't need to mount lights on it tho. Eglider... I do plan to round the corners.. just wanted to do the test run prior to putting more time into them.. thanks tho. |
