Hey all, Went for the first hard and long ride on the Uly since I put on the Pirelli Scorpion Trail front to match the back. Oh the bike does well on these tires. I mean GREAT! 100 plus exit speeds on some turns that were low 90's before. I rode with a few friend's, one on his FJR 1300 and another with his Triumph Thunderbird 1600. On one road about 85 miles into the ride where we just HAMMER it I turned onto this 10 mile long road in the lead position and I just pinned the throttle in 4th gear till it hit the limiter and shifted to 5th. Indicating 123, 118 on the GPS. This road has some great S curves and rolling hills with curves hidden behind the hills sept when your sittin 6 feet up on a ULY! HAhhaaaaaaaa. Well the FJR could have passed me with ease in the straights but I was hangin all 335 lbs off one side of the bike then the other in the turns and was pulling away till the straights. The curves were just close enough together to keep me out front. The Pirelli's were workin! This goes on for 5 or 6 miles till we have to slow for houses and cross streets on the rual FM road. We pull into this little town for lunch and thats when the FJR's REAL WEAK POINT showed up. The Buells mighty 190 rear scorpion trail delivered a rock with fatal force to the FJR's radiator. It was puikin green blood all over the front fender and the ground! SHEEEEIT! So we headed in the eatery for the meal we rode for and called a friend with a pickup to retrive the dead FJR. DANG! Well I atleast bought lunch! HAhahaaaaaaaa. 2 years ago on this same road a fellow rider on his SV 1000 took a rock from this same FJR rider. So I guess its pay back time? HAhahaaaaa. After the SV radiator incident , most of us made radiator screens or bought COX RACING radiator screens to keep this from happening to us. The SV took another rock to the NEW radiator a few weeks later but the screen saved the radiator but took a massive denting. Now I think I will fab some cover screens for the scoops on the ULY! HAhahaaaaaa. It was still a great day of riding....... BDRAG |

Scorpion Trail does not come in 180/55/17. The 190/55/17 fits fine. I'm wanting a set, but $ says Ravens... |

Whisperstealth After seeing what I look like a speed I dought you would want any lessons! HAhahaaaaaaa. It has taken me longer to get use to the Uly and its limits than any other bike I have ridden or owned. Just got 7000 on it yesterday and have had it 13 months. I still have to ride my other two bikes! AHhahaaaaaa. The Uly wants the rider, well if he is heavy anyway, the uly likes me to stay fwd in a turn and wants me off the side some and fwd, My Strom wants or lets you just sit there. Although you can get another 15 % from the Strom if ya get off the seat and fwd some but thats just to keep the pegs off the ground. The Storms brakes are not near as good and the Uly. I have yet to grind a peg on the Uly and don't know if I will EVER get one. I would like to see how close the bags were yesterday and just how close the pegs were though. I do not think I can get anymore from the Uly than I did yesterday. Well my limits. After the 2010 rear wheel, belt, and these tires that seem to be the ticket for me, I am finally starting to gain some CONFIDENCE in the Uly as being a viable and reliable machine. The front brakes stated to get a squeek yesterday if you stopping long and slow. Clean the pads maybe? Anyway, Its definatly a keeper........ |

Funny that you need to be forward and off the side to get your Uly to corner. I'm 5lbs more than you and rarely need to do more that weight the outside peg and shift my shoulders inside for a hot corner. Im thinking the difference in handling is due to suspension set up. Has anyone ever scraped a peg on a 12X? I have no chicken strips anymore and have still not touched any hard parts yet. |

Nope and I have no chicken strips back or front. Have sure scraped the outside of my boot though! When it gets good, I have the balls of my feet on the pegs. |

Desmo900 Well maybe it feels like I am fwd but I do get much better handling when I get over, I guess with weight applied to the outside peg as a result of hangin off? HAhahaaaaaa. Hell, I have no video so who knows! I just ride the damn thing. HAhahaaaaa. The bike does like the new rubber, I still had the Angle up front till this week and never felt total confidence in the handle. I got some wiggle or ossilation entering a turn hot but not with these current tires. The bike will still ossilate very easily at speed with just a tap on the bars, its never been rock solid at speed. Nothing that keeps me from haulin butt just very light steering maybe a way to discribe it? HAHAaaaaa. I have touched a boot a few times but nothing like the peg puonding Strom. I can say though that the Uly has achived a faster exit speed than the Strom on some of my well rehursed turns and now is rock solid in those turns so more speed is probably possible but not likley! HAhahaaaaa. Got any action shots? BDRAG |

Desmo900 I have my suspension pre load set just almost full in the rear with the damping set just below the max as well. The front is set just about 3/4 as much pre load as listed for fully loaded bike and the dampining and such almost set full. Yours is set where? BDRAG |

Odd.. my post shows up twice. My settings will be different than yours because I have heavier springs front and rear. They are Hyperpros I got from American Sport Bike. It makes it good bit better for us...Ummm full figured guys. |

And another one Needless to say, I am glad my 1125R didn't come with these inferior lean angle deprived pegs. |

First one was from a down, second one wasn't. The right peg wasn't as bad, it is missing the tip of the feeler and part of the front. |

Holy Crap Froggy you must be half way off the tires to grind that much. Looks like its time to stand it up a bit and hang Both cheeks off the seat |
