I was wondering if anyone was planning on attending one of these shows? I would like to but the weather usually get in the way. Has anyone ever been to one and what did you think? http://www.motorcycleshows.com/motorcycleshows |

I have gone to the last four shows (Long Beach CA)and must give credit to the 2008 show for causing me to purchase my XB12X a couple months later. If you will be buying soon it is helpful to see most makes under one roof with lots of accessorie vendors also. They normally have a vintage / classic display which varies greatly from year to year.Last years event was lacking a few companies (no Moto Guzzi or Triumph among others), but I did come home with a new BMG winter riding jacket. I'm sure I'll attend again this year, the outside bike parking lot is almost worth the 10-12 dollar entry fee. |

I wish they didn't do the Minneapolis one in February- because many manufacturers offer test rides at this show....and that aint happennin in MN in Feb! I went 2 years ago, and it was decent. The bikes all look the same after about 30 minutes. I spent more time in the Buell booth than I did at the entire rest of the show! (also got our free t shirts from Buell and bought a ton of t-shirts and jackets at 50-75% off, which was saweet!), but I actually had no drive to go to last years show after the Buell shutdown. None. And again this year. Honestly tho, I am no where near being in a place to purchase a new bike, so that prob has a lot to do with it. I love my Uly and the wife's XB9, and they are paid for! |

I always want new bikes but I'm not in the market for anything right now. I just want to soak in all things motorcycle. What can I say, I just like bikes. |

I was hoping to go to the one in Dallas, but with Triumph, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia and BMW not attending, there just won't be much there to interest me other than the Ducatis. I'll just get my peeps at those over at the dealership. The last time I attended one was either 2003 or 2002 in Chicago and the two years before that in St. Louis. They were great, but there were far more mfg's at those events. |

Did anyone happen to notice the Tuber in the picture about 2/3's of the way down on the right from the link above? I don't know if I will go to the Cleveland show or not, last year was a disappointment. |

Andy,The Mpls show has been going down hill for 5 years. I'm seriously considering not going this year. It would be the first in about 6 or 7 years. The vendor booth selection has dropped by about 75%. The factory stuff is OK but even that has dropped off. Only saving grace is that in Feb, it really helps with PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome). I've been for several years. Unfortunately, none of the "neat" manufacturers go. If Aprilia, Guzzi, Triumph, KTM, BMW (basically all of the european brands but Ducati) were present, it would be a MUCH better show. But, since it is just the big-four, Harley, Victory, and Ducati, I can see all those bikes in my neighborhood shops. |

The Cleveland show isn't really a motorcycle show - more of an equipment show with a few manufacturers in attendance. It was fun, though. . |

I love the IMS show. Compared to the incredibly lame shows that are in the Boston area, the New York show is in a league of its own. Yes, now that Buell is gone and Moto Guzzi and Triumph aren't in attendance the show is diminished; but there are still hundreds of aftermarket vendors selling everything from tires to helmets to clothing and even Stebel horns. I like to use the show to try on every helmet that interests me until I find the one that fits best. Then, when I get home, I can look on the Internet and find the best deal. Over the years, we've bought gloves, helmets, and I even first saw a NoMar tire changer in action at the New York show. I saw the Knucklehead that Joe Petralli set the Land Speed Record on, and the BUB's streamliner that Chris Carr set his LSR on (in?) Since New York is 200 miles away, we usually make a day of it, and we'll stop at the Dinosaur for dinner before we head back home. It's a great escape from winter. |

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who went to the DC show in the last few years. I went 5 years ago and thought it was pretty good - but since then I've either been deployed or had Guard weekend back in NY. For those in the DC area I've found the show in Timonium, MD (February I think) to be pretty good |

I'll be going to the Long Beach show in Dec. It was there 5 years ago that I first rode a Uly and fell in love. Put a deposit down that day. Still haven't found a replacement that meets/beats the Uly on all the points I consider important, but I will definitely be looking! |

I'll go to the DC show (or Timonium) if they have the new Yamaha Super Tenere and the Multistrada. It's been several years since I've been...I figure there ought to be some new stuff since then. |

Hoop I'll try to ping you when I try to hit these shows this winter. We don't live that far apart but we've yet to run into each other. My wife did shows with me the first few times but now the novelty has worn off so I'll probably be riding to these instead of taking the cage |

I plan to go in two weeks to the show in San Mateo. I may get a helmet at the show price if I can. I am not interested in any bikes right now. I have my Uly and getting a used KTM ina few eeks for off road a 450 EXC to be exact. Thats all I really need. |

I've been taking the boy every year since he was a wee lad, it's a tradition now. I've gone to the NYC show (just about)every year since the first one in the 80's. It has been getting lame as of late but I think the lameness peaked when those stupid OCC fagggottts were there. I got to check out the Moto-Cyzcz C1 and talk to the man himself a few years back. Way cool. |

I go to the Minneapolis IMS show every year. I remember looking at a red XT when they first came out in 2008 and thinking what a cool bike it was. Then at the 2009 show, I was sitting on another red XT and told my buddy "This is my next bike!". ( I ended up with a new 08 because I got one hell of a deal on it.) I went to the show again this year and it just wasn't the same. I really enjoy looking at all makes and models of bikes but it just wasn't the same without Buell's presence. |

Couldn't agree more about the Minneapolis show. But last yr. it seemed all the ADV bike manufacturers were gone! Oh well, at least I got to sit on the new Multistrada. Bluzm2 said it best, it's just fun to think about riding again in Feb in Minnesota! |

I'm heading to the San Mateo show on the 20th of this month. I like sitting on all the bikes. I even have a picture of me on a DN-01 (I didn't think it was possible to make me look nerdier). The new dirt bikes make me wish I was 25 again (but with talent this time around). I hunch over on a few crotch rockets and am quickly reminded why I don't own one of those. Last year some mfg's dropped out buy I hope they're back this year. All-in-all it's a good way to waste a day. Highlight of the day is a stopover at DiMaggio's in San Jose for a stromboli. |
