WOW, what a great ride! For $20K it should be, but this really is a great bike. All I could think about during the 50 mile demo (aside from the joy of riding such a near perfect motorcycle), was this is what could/might have been the next Uly had HD not killed Buell. The Uly with the 1125 motor would have been something truly special. |

It's all speculation at this point, but I hope Buell would have detuned the Rotax engine a bit before building an adventure/sport/touring bike around it. I've ridden 1125R's and CR's and don't want that kind of brutal power in my Uly. The front tire would never touch the ground. I like Ducati's method of taking a high power superbike engine and making simple street-friendly changes. I haven't ridden one yet, but from what I've heard the latest flash has the multi running really well. There were some surging issues with the first batch of bikes sold. (where have we heard that before?) |

Yes. I was always satisfied with the ol' pushrod mill in my Uly (heck, I'm still satisfied with it), but after getting the MTS 1200 I see the advantages of more power (primarily in overtaking situations). Likewise, the vibration of the 1203 never bothered me much (or so I thought) but I feel a bit less fatigued at the end of a longish ride, due in no small part to the smoother 1198. Would have liked the opportunity to see what Erik might have offered...maybe we still will. --Doc |

Would have liked the opportunity to see what Erik might have offered...maybe we still will. Unfortunately Doc, I don't have the luxury of waiting. The Dr. keeps reminding me that all my injuries will catch up to me some day. I hope I'm still riding into my 70's but I'm guessing it won't be a modern version of the Uly. Maybe a Piaggio MP3? Your getting the Duc was a bold move and it looks like it's paying off for you. Congrats. (Message edited by strokizator on October 26, 2010) |

Oh hell, now you've done gone and got me drooling all over myself again. Ever since Dr_greg posted his first write-up on his test drive I've been wanting one. I test rode one a couple months ago and almost pulled the trigger, but they wouldn't give me enough on the trade-in of my Yamaha Raider. Did you ride an S version or one of the base models? I want an "S" but am starting to think a standard version would be good enough |

Whats the difference between the "S" and the "Standard"? Or maybe I should be looking at their web site... d (Message edited by Druelly on October 26, 2010) |

If I ever purchased one, it would be the S touring. No need for the carbon fiber bits on the Sport package, but those bags are a must IMO for this bike's purpose. Kind of pointless to spend 15-16k for a nice bike when 20k will get you an Ohlins/Brembo monoblock equipped bike with on the fly push button suspension/fuel mapping changes! |

+1. I played around with it during a demo ride, it was stupidly easy to turn it into bike that handles better than my 1125. I really wish I had that suspension on my bikes. |

The latest issue of Cycle World shows 3 NHTSA recalls for the 2010 Multistrada S. Guess Buell isn't alone when it comes to recall work. Just remember the more complex a item is the more chance for something to go wrong! KISS! |

I love the idea of the adjustable on the fly suspension, but just thinking about what the cost of replacing a servo (or whatever it uses to make the adjustments) might be makes me cringe. Someday: KISS is why I'm even considering the standard version. I would get an S Touring b/c like you the carbon fiber stuff does nothing for me, but heated grips, center stand, and bags would be important and stuff I'd end up buying anyway. |

Just remember the more complex a item is the more chance for something to go wrong! KISS! That is absolutely true. I've had a couple glitches, but so far so good. As with the Uly, I intend to do all the maintenance myself. In 4,500 miles it'll be time for the 15,000 mile service, which is much like the Uly, except for the valves, of course. I'll be interested in changing the fork oil on the Ohlins forks.. I'll pass my experiences of that service on to this forum. In general, I've been even happier with the Milledue (as I now call it) than I expected. It is just amazing. --Doc |

Doc, you're killing me and gonna make me broke. I'm lovin your RR over at ADV. Also would you buy the touring again, or would you just go for the standard and then get the accessories in the aftermarket? |

Also would you buy the touring again, or would you just go for the standard and then get the accessories in the aftermarket? I would buy the same. After the Uly, I've become addicted to ample carrying capacity. And what do I care about CF stuff?... --Doc |

Two of the recalls are related to improper screws in the steering head and center stand. The other recall is due to throttle cables rubbing against the radiator and rubbing through. I don't think any of these have to do with making anything complex. Hell, The Uly had similar recalls for the kickstand and windshield bolts. |

So none of you guys here would worry about the servos and what not with the adjustable suspension? I know its been in racebikes and cars for long time but race bikes are a category unto themselves as far as maintenance goes and bikes seem to tougher on components than cars (more vibration, etc). |

I wouldn't think twice about having it. I have even been lurking on Ducati forums to learn what I can about it so I can retrofit it or something similar onto my primitive bikes. I find that electronics tend to be more reliable than old fashioned mechanical stuff anyway. |

I would rather take a 1125 Buell and turn it into a ULY than own that over engineered Multistrada. Just saying. |
