OK, after ~945 miles (yes, really) of riding twisties in North Georgia over the past week, my front Pirelli Scorpion Sync is pretty much toast. The back Scorpion Sync is at least 50% worn. I'd like to try a set of Michelin Pilot Road II's next change but I'd like to finish wearing out this rear Sync first. If I buy another new front Sync, it will outlast the rear tire, necessitating the purchase of another rear Sync in about 3,000 more miles in order to wear out the new front Sync! I was just wondering if anyone had a partially worn front Scorpion Sync lying around they'd be willing to sell cheap. Otherwise, I could change to the Pilot II's now and save the partially worn rear Sync for later use. Thanks in Advance! |

you wore the front out that fast? Maybe you need a front end alignment?

I think this front actually has about 10,000 miles on it. I'm just now figuring out that Syncs wear out at a rate of 2 fronts to 3 rears for me. (Not a much more convenient 1 front to 2 rear ratio.) I need to break my Sync habit! |

I have one with 5k miles on it - pulled it when I switched to the Distanzias. IRRC, it's in pretty good shape, but I'll check it out tomorrow AM as it's stored away from my house. I also have a Strada with 3k on it, pulled in favor of the Sync. (Message edited by itileman on October 21, 2010) |

Itileman- that'd be perfect. Please let me know if it's OK and what you'd want for it. |

Hugh, go ahead with the Pilot Road II on the front, it will last through a little more than two rears, so that might just equal out! |

Hughlysses - How "bad" is that front Sync you're replacing? I might be interested in it for the same reason. One man's trash... My front sync is 3/4 smooth. Thanks! |

Buelet- if you rode it straight upright, you could probably get another 1,000 miles out of it. I came up with the pic below to show you how it's worn:
Where I've got the red there is almost NO tread left- the wear bars are pretty much gone. The bike doesn't seem to corner well now- I don't know if it's slipperier or if the contour of the tire is just weird, but it doesn't feel right when you drop it over into a curve. I'll be glad to send it to you for the cost of shipping if you really want it. |

I'm waiting for belts to show through...
So, depending on how your tire compares (got a crappy cell phone pic too?), then how much do you think you can ship it to 64152 for? Thanks! |

Buelet- Cost would be about $15. Crappy cell phone pics as requested: It's not as bad on the left, but a little worse on the right than Froggy's photo. Hopefully my "new" tire will arrive Friday and I'll do the swap on Saturday. PM me if you want it and I'll send you my Paypal info. You might want to check with Itileman about his Strada; it's probably in better shape, he's closer to you, and he'll probably cut you a good deal on it. Hey thanks! Looks like it'll work and get me to the end of my rear Sync! Try and save me as much tread as you can between now & Friday! Ahahaha! I'll take it whenever - no hurry right?! Itileman - I'd be interested in what might be left of that Strada as well. I have a BT-021 rear hangning on the wall with about half the life left right now because we took a 4,000 mile trip this summer and it wasn't going to make it. (Grand Canyon) Maybe we should have an on going, Who wants my worn out tire thread! Will send PM with my info, thanks Hughlysses! |

I'm keeping the Strada as a back up until I get my hands on another Avon Distanzia or Pirelli MT-60r. Hugh - tire is scheduled to arrive 10/29. Tracking # on its way. (Message edited by ITILEMAN on October 27, 2010) |

LOL, good to see I'm not the only cheap-ass former KLR rider that squeezes every ounce of tread out their tires. |

LOL. I had the KLR-250. Cheaper then the 650, for those of us lower than low class. I have a sync with at least 1k miles hanging in the garage and in the BRAN list... not worth shipping, but if you get a flat near Lebanon Ohio, it's yours free (delivered). |
