I had a problem with my battery charging system. I was running down to Memphis and the check engine light lit up and the bike started to die on the highway. I got it off the highway then towed to a dealership in Tn. The Buell tech knew the problem and showed me the connector on the left side of the bike was shorting out causing the bike to run off of battery power only. So he greased it up because it wasn't badly burnt and the bike ran fine for the rest of the trip until I got the connector replaced. I have a little voltage meter installed on the dash now. Does this hit the target? |

Babired, I've already had that problem, a couple of months ago. Poor contact led to the battery NOT charging. When the engine light came on I did not know why, but when the GPS and driving lights shut down, I knew the problem. Cleaning the connector restored charging and all was fine. This time however, the problem seems to be TOO MUCH charging. Probably a bad voltage regulator, but maybe another bad connection. What kind of a voltmeter do you use? I like the idea of the tri-color led style, but the one that I checked out would not have indicated an overcharge condition. Mark SE AZ |
