My wife and I went on a nice trip on my XT. Chicago to Cincinnati and back. Much of the route was on twisty back roads near the Ohio river. The bike ran flawlessly even though the temperatures were floating around 100 deg F. The bike handled great even well loaded for two up touring. At gas stops and hotels, somebody would almost always start a conversation about this very unique motorcycle. I am happy with my purchase after my 2 years of ownership. The bike has sufficient power, handles great, is easy to maintain and is very unique. Most other Buell owners get very similar joy from their Buells and that makes the bike and fellow owners/friends part of the fun. Since the threads on this website many times are discussions of failures or problem, I thought it would be nice to talk about the fun. |

Nice ride, the trip along the ohio is beautiful. Nice relaxed pace, little traffic, lots to look at, and nice and restful. |

Did you happen to ride through West Lafayette this past weekend? If so, I believe I saw you on IN52. 2up, matching gear/helmets, looked sharp. The helmets catch the eye, a definite enhancement to visibility. |

Absolutely right Tim! It needs to be pointed out time to time, that most Buell owners have near flawless machines and enjoy many miles trouble free. Riders that have no problems usually don't make it an issue. Sounds like a fun trip! |

Late last fall in the Adirondacks, shooting the twisties at a rest area I saw a Blue Uly parked with a guy dressed in his leather armor looking out over the distance having a smoke. This was the first one I have seen since I had gotten mine(still), so I pulled off to check it out. Maybe he was one of you guys. His name was Jacque, I think, his English wasn’t that intelligible and my French is nonexistent. He was very friendly though. His Uly had Quebec plates and was an ‘08 XT, it had the gold engine. We looked each others bikes over and I immediately noticed his pegs were much shorter than mine. On closer examination I was surprised to see they had been ground down. After a few minutes I could tell he was anxious get going so I decided to follow him for awhile. Tried. There was something graceful and fluid with his riding that thinking back reminds me of a ballroom dance or something. He was in full control and knew exactly what he was doing. He was an artist. I completely lost him after 2 or 3 miles. In my vain imaginings I had thought I could ride. That day changed the way I look at my Arrest Me Red Uly. Every time I look at it I think of that dude. In the right hands (not mine) this thing is dynamite and a swan at the same time. I keep practicing in the mountains and scan every rest area looking for that Blue Uly. Maybe someday he’ll come back. |

I did a tour of that area the last weekend in April 2up bags full. Started in Mansfield worked our way to Marietta and stayed there overnight. Did a couple hundred more miles from there crossed into W.Va. at New Martinsville came back thru Moundsville.and stayed in Woodsfield. Next day was rainy for an hour while we headed back to Mansfield. 500+ miles of pure riding bliss. The uly handled the load better than I expected and never ground anything but my toe. The suspension has a wide range of tunabilty and worked as good loaded as solo. Hope to get back a few more times this year! |
