PBR Homecoming trip summary from the Uly perspective (2009) Equipment: PE shift and brake lever – installed before trip – great solid feel and look great Knight Design 2” drop pegs – worked great for a tall guy (6'6”) I switched to these pegs because I knew we were going to be tearing it up in the twistys – easier to move you foot position compared to my PE pegs. Still will use the PE pegs for my dirt road riding. Beaded Seat Cover – great! Felt like a New York Cabbie. Kept airflow going, noticeably cooler. Comfort Kit – no reflash – worked very well. We were in temps from 40' to 97'. Fan ran a great deal less and my right leg did not roast. Contour HD camera – good video, poor sound above about 30 mph. I mounted on my bars so there was some wavyness in the shots. I suppose if you mounted to the helmet this would be eliminated. The video also got better when I was in the 4k+ RPM range. The irritation that I see with the unit is that it has a time out shutoff to conserve battery life. The only way to see if you are recording is to check the LED on the front of the camera. A pain – you have to rotate the camera. I got to where I would just turn the unit on an off when we were in areas I wanted to film. First Gear TPG jacket and pants worked well to about 75-80 degrees depending on humidity. First Gear Mesh after that. Icon Field Armour boots – very large, had to adjust shifter. Very comfortable and they breathe well. Conti Motions – Sport/Touring tires – Only got about 4300 miles out of them before cords showed up in Jackson Hole. Mainly due to flat chip seal roads. In normal riding I think I would have got at least 5k. Very impressed with how well they performed in the corners riding very aggressively. Especially for under $160 a set from Motorcyle Superstore. Will be going back to the Syncs for the rest of the summer for dirt road riding. Performance: Averaged over 45 miles per gallon – a high of 53 and low of 37 (in MT with 10% Ethanol, high elevation and playing at high speed) No other issues – Uly ran great! Top speed at 4200 feet – wide open -120 mph, not bad for a 270 lb guy! (Aron on the 1125 still made me look slow!) My Garmin 60csx and the Contour HD on Ram mounts above the windscreen did make the front end move/shake a little at high speed. By taking them off it was stable and shake disappeared. The running joke with my fellow PBR'ers was that every time we hit rough roads/construction gravel that I gloated that I was on a Uly. Riding with BorrowedBike, ThePod and XBSwede was Epic - they helped elevate my riding skills, 5k miles of riding technique critique was great.
