'06 Ulysses. Black rear wheelbearings, stock '06 2-bearing wheel. OEM orange bearings in front. Dunlop D616 tires, 38/40psi f/r. Journey saddlebags. HB 50L topcase. Tuber tank bag on topcase luggage rack. XB tankbag where it belongs. Operators tubes with fuel and first aid. Buell large tool kit in left saddlebag. Spare clutch cable and air compressor stowed under seat. Fully (over) loaded to - and a little above - the rated GVWR of 950lb. 2-up riding, packed with 6 days' worth of stuff for those 2 people. Weds: leave Maryland, ride to OH. Meet up with more Buellers. Ride to Flint MI, crash for the night. 600ish miles. Thurs: Leave Flint, go to Mackinac Bridge, cross and ride down to ET through the U.P. Mileage thus far? 1201 on the GPS as we pull into Alpine. Fri/Sat, cover 100ish miles running around ET and surrounding areas. Sunday: Leave Alpine at 7am eastern time (6am local). Ride 800 miles home, in 14hr 45min, arrive 9:45pm. Again - 2-up, (over)loaded. Total GPS mileage: 2108.8. Moving average speed: 64.2 mph. Overall average speed: 52.6 mph. Total "moving" time: 32h 51min. Total problems: Replaced rear tire (should have been done before we left home, I knew it was worn but didn't have time to get one ordered before departure) in Toledo OH. Thought we could make WI....but I was wrong. Added 1/4 qt of Syn3 at fuel stop just past Big Mac. That's it. |

Piece of crap! What are you trying to do.....find a buyer? I did 2386 miles, added a half pint of oil and wired my fan to run in manual mode. The last 450 miles were really in flight. It still has me covered with permagrin! Every time we stopped for the night, for me, was due to darkness/bugs/potential critter hazards. I could have easily continued riding. Gone five days, rode four of the days, that is nearly 600 miles per riding day. Awesome bike.....still.....now at almost 52,000 miles. Still not for sale. Still getting better all of the time. |

Nah, definitely not for sale. Just posting a positive, instead of the usual flood of "my XX broke" stuff is all. Now to go mow the jungle...er, lawn. Just what my sore ass wants...to sit on something ELSE with an engine for a couple hours! |

Left Quebec on May 20th with new tires, fresh oil, new rear wheel bearings on my Ulysses 08. Accumulated 6,600 miles within 15 days total. 0.5 day stopped in a snowstorm in Colorado. 1 day of awesome dirt riding in Canyonland, Utah. 1.5 day AOG in Wyoming due to broken drive belt. Five days of over 600 miles each. Very windy (50 mph + crosswind) during many hours of riding. This bike is too versatile to get rid of it just yet! |
