Could a 1125r engine and frame be turned into a Uly with some work? Swap forks, shock, seat, bars, relocate pegs? It would be fun to try and one hell of a fast Sport/dirt bike. |

There would be some pretty aggressive gearing to make it dirt viable, but as a street/enduro, that would be phenomenal. OOooohhhh... water cooled and probably a good deal lighter with more power. Froggy, please make sure to keep us up to date on the progress. ...now if only Eric Buell still had the staff and ability to design this..... hmmm..... |

"would an 1125 engine fit in a uly?" There is room for it, too much room in fact. You would lose quite a bit of fuel capacity compared to an 1125 also. It would probably be easier to extend the suspension on an 1125 than it would be to fabricate a mounting system and rewire a Uly. Just throwing my $0.02 on the table... |

Ya just gotta ask WHY Why do so many ask such questions: Is it because they are unhappy with their Uly. Maybe they want something no one else can buy. Maybe they just feel compelled to do it. Maybe they think it will be really cool when the contraption is put together (then complaining forever that it doesn't run right) Maybe they are just crazy I think they have too much energy or money or both. Just go out and ride you Uly. If you want a 150 hp adventure touring bike by a Ducati Multistrada. just my $ 0.02 |

In the 1125 forum you can find info on: (1) An 1125 with an XB-s subframe (2) An 1125 with an XB-s headlight/fairing assembly. While that's not the same project by any means, those two conversions should give a lot of info for what would be required to do a Uly 1125 conversion. You are better off to start off with an 1125r and change out the forks and extend the swingarm to give it more travel. The gearing will suck no matter how you look at it because the 1125r/cr have way too much power for anything offroad...Hell my Uly had to much power for anything offroad. You could take is a step further then and fabricate a subframe (or modify a Uly one) to mount onto the 1125. Ive taken both XB's and 1125's completely apart and it is definitely do-able but you have to really know what you are doing for starters and well lets just face it, you would need a donor bike or just hit up feebay on a daily basis for the parts that are now seemingly hard to find (i.e. a Uly subframe). |

Has anyone tried to put an XB engine in an 1125r? You know, to give it some more character?

If you want an 1125R to be noisy, slow, and run like crap just remove the exhaust and pour marbles down the airbox. Yes 1125Uly is doable, it will happen, soon, and look similar to this and not that terrible photoshop above.

Froggy- You keep dissing the XB's but I don't see you getting rid of yours. At least my Uly doesn't put my hands to sleep at cruising speeds. Let's see you scrap that useless XB mutant of yours and build that 1125GT. |

At least he got the color right. I'd buy that sucker if it were a tad bit taller and the nose was reined in a bit (guess it gives Froggy more room to load in some electronics). |

I wonder how a wheelie landing is going to affect the fairing on that 1125 GT???? Looks like it would snap. |

You could prototype it. Play with the tuning on your Uly so that it idles at 1500rpm and won't run below 3,200 rpm. Change the primary to gear it up 10% and you may have the bike of your dreams. If you can just get down to 35mph in 3rd gear you've got it right. My 1125R is fantastic, especially the handling and the light feeling when the power comes on, but the XB engine in my Firebolt makes it so easy to ride. I can ride around at under 2000 RPM. I've geared it up 10% and it is still really forgiving on which gear I'm in at low speed. Maybe the Can-Am Spyder Rotax would work for a Uly. |

Can Am was in negotiations to buy the 1125 program and HD - in their infinite wisdom, nixed it. So Can Am came back and offered to buy the entire Buell program. HD really displayed their superior intelligence, and nixed that also. So much for jobs and a viable marque. Fat Boy City! |

Makes me SICK that 1125 Ulysses will never see the light of day. I'm sure it would have been tuned and geared for Adventure bike use. |

The Multistrada is way over complicated IMO. Can you imagine the things that can go wrong with it on a long trip and the inability to fix all the electrical gremlins. I'm sure it will take a few years to work out all the bugs if they ever can. I like the simplicity of the Buell. |
