I had 22000 miles on the original belt and decided to put a new one on. I will keep the old one as a spare. It was easy. This is a do it yourself project. (even for a novice) Follow the instructions in the service manual and in 20 minutes...done. Ready for Homecoming!!! |

I just replaced my 08XT belt at 21K as a precaution. I will take the belt with me on longer trips just in case. The old belt actually looked very good. There were no missing teeth or any deformations that I could see. There were what appeared to be dried bugs embedded on the rear pulley. I used a plastic picnic knife to remove them so as not to scratch the pulley. The new belt had a different rubber texture on the outer surface. Hopefully it has been upgraded since 2008. |
