It's fairly close, but not quite. 4000 in 4th nets 70 MPH with XB12 gearing 4000 in 5th nets 73.1 MPH with XB9 gearing |

Primary kit, Distanzias and spark arrestor have shipped. Maybe I'll go tidy up the garage. |

Feels like 4.5th gear instead of 5th. I can get tickets on the 70mph freeway without moving rpm's out of comfort range. |

What's fun is the bike becomes a point and shoot on the highway. Instant acceleration, no waiting! The rpm difference is just enough to get you on the cam now. |

If you're due for it anyway, I'd suggest replacing the belt when you do this. As I mentioned previously, my well-weather-checked-and-moderately-stretched belt snapped shortly after the swap. Put it all back together over the weekend and rode it to work yesterday. Took time while it was apart to give her the tune-up she needed, and also to continue my effort murder her--only one 'Magnesium-Tone' part remains...

You're welcome to take mine for a whirl, Mark--I'd just ask for the same privilege with yours. |
