American Sport bike only offers one type of plug wires( http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/17146.html ). I ride in all types of weather not just on sunny days. Is this a good wire or should I get something different?

I am in San Diego, and it doesn't rain a lot here. At about 15000 miles I was changing the plugs and the wire came apart. When I checked it out the metal was corroded at both ends and ready to break off. I put new OEM wires on with a smear of dielectric grease on both the inside & outside of the wires at the boots. This seams to help, but I don't think the stock wires seal very well.

You could always try Magnecor wires (#2557). I also ride in all weather.. have had good luck with these. Try searching on Magnecor.. there are few threads on them.

I ride in rain often, still have the stock wires. No problem. Whenever I do a sparkplug change I fill the boots with silicone dielectric grease.

I took my plugs out and the rear plug wire and plug on both ends were rusty. Do I need to replace my coil if the wire was rusty in the coil? Or just replace the wires and plugs and make sure I put grease in it to prevent moisture from getting in it? Thanks for the help.

+1 on the Magnecor wires. I had trouble with the OEMs when riding in the wet. I have not had any problems once I installed the Magnecor wires and I have ridden in many long rides with heavy rain. Make sure that you use dielectric grease when installing.

What is this dielectric grease that everyone keeps talking about? Where can I buy it? And how much do I put in the wires when I do find it?

I use copper-based Permatex antiseize on the terminals and dielectric grease on the boots. Snap the clips down onto the plugs then slide the boots down, been keeping my plug wire contacts clean for years and I ride in crap weather.

The integrity of the wires themselves can be compromised after time though, at 70K I figure it's probably time for Magnecors...
