I looked it up on Latus HD/Buell's site; looks like the price is $116. That might be worth the investment. |

Gamdh- Since you've got both a 2006 and a 2010, can you look and see if you can tell what's the difference in the headlight assemblies? If it's something obvious, I'd appreciate it if you'd post a photo. TIA |

Hugh.. try to take a look when I get home tonight. I already took a quick look and didn't see anything real obvious, but I'll take a closer look and see what I can find. |

My '09 has a center "park" bulb, which people on here told me was a euro only thing, so maybe the '09 and '10's have a center bulb and the earlier ones don't. |

The '10 has a center 'position' bulb. I looked at the 2 headlight assemblies...I really couldn't see anything that jumped out (other than the fact my '06 reflectors are really dirty). There may be a subtle difference.. i just can't tell. Also noted the low beam is on the Clutch side for the '10... which is the opposite of the '06 (Message edited by gamdh on June 01, 2010) |

Natek My 07 has wiring and a plug run into the center of the headlight assembly but no bulb in the plug. Go figure. I don't know what its for and have left it alone. But the plug looks like its the right size for a marker light. |

My 09 came with the bulb as well. My 05 simply had the wiring and plug. |

The 09's have a different headlamp assembly than previous years, hence why it comes with the bulb now. |

Froggy- there have been at least a couple of posts from former 06/07/08 Uly owners that now own 09/10 Ulys that say the newer headlights seem to be much better than the older ones. We were just trying to figure out what the difference is. I wonder if the extra bulb makes that much difference? The big question is ~$106 for the 09/10 headlight housing a worthwhile upgrade for our older Ulys. (Message edited by Hughlysses on June 11, 2010) |

Hugh, I had my original '06 headlight assembly replaced under warranty - the bottom mounting screw had been assembled with loctite and the 'captive' nut spun in the plastic housing when I tried to adjust the headlight aim. I actually removed the beak and headlight together and twisted the headlight along the slot in the beak to get it adjusted but my servicing dealer noted this on the first service and replaced it about a year after I bought it. The first time I rode it at night with this new headlight I was surprised at how much better it was than the original. I always assumed the first assembly must have had a poor reflector and didn't give it much thought. I have an '09 XT as well now but have never ridden it at night - I still use the 'old girl' for work duty (that includes night riding). I will make a point of trying the '09 to see what it is like compared to my '06 - I can do a very definitive 'back to back' test over the same route. |

The position lamp won't do squat for lighting. It's a parking light; a marker light. On Eu bikes, if you turn the key to "park", you have your taillight on in back...and the position lamp in front. It does absolutely *nothing* to light the roadway - it's only 5W after all As noted, the reflector design changed making the light output more useful. |

Thanks ratbuell. I had asked this question before, but some folks did not now what I was asking. The 06's are fixed reflectors. cannot adjust one beam without throing the other way off. so it sounds like in 09 they redesigned the reflector orfolks living in the country. I guess that will be a future purchase for me and my limited edition Buell. |
