I love my Uly, but I have to say the lights could have been better. Therefore I ordered some new HID lighting kit from DDM tuning. (http://www.ddmtuning.com/Product-Categories/Motorcycle-HID-Kits-Lighting) I bought two lights one 35w at 5K for the low beam and one 55w at 4.5K for the high beam. I was hopeing the colors would be simular. Heres the HIDs
A problem with HID lights is that they take a few seconds to light up. That can be annoying to say the least when you are driving in the dark and change to your high beam, 'cause the low beam turns off and you can't see anything for a few seconds until the high beam lights up. I therefore switched some wires so that the low beam doesnˇ¦t turn off when the high beam is turned on. I just followed this guide. (http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/377314.html?1259183152) The resault;
Finally I took the bike for a test run, and came back four hours later, and just happened to check the ODO-meter
The installation of the lights turned out to be very easy. I am very happy with the result so far. Guess I will have to wait until fall to see just how good the new lights are. Ride safe folks! (Message edited by froggy on May 25, 2010) |

I installed those last month myself and they made a huge difference. I plan to install them in my truck asap. An old guy like me can't have too much light... |

Looks like the same kit I installed. Compared the lights on my Uly to my buddies new FZ1. Guess what-my lights are way better-brighter and whiter lights. His lights looked yellow. |

Thanks for the links and the write up- will be doing a similar install on mine as well. Where did you install the ballasts? I don't know a ton about the HID lights, what is the life expectancy of these? Prior (Message edited by awprior on May 25, 2010) |

I have 35W-4500 hids and the ballasts fit on the horn and headlight mount rail. |

I installed the 55w 4500K low beam kit the other day with the low beam on all the time mod. Took less than an hour from start to finish. I didn't install a high beam HID. I may still do so. The DDm lights are well worth the money and the lights work great!!! I highly recommend it. |

Both the ballasts fit under the "blue cover". I fit mine simular to what how Mnrider did. I just put mine close to the lamp it "belonged" to. One on the left and one on the right. The 35w ballast is about 2/3 of the size of the 55w one. |

Has anyone installed these who also has the giant loud horn behind the fly screen? Is there still enough room. Does the whole kit really only cost $40? Seems very cheap! |

Commissar; did you have to order 2 single kits to get different colors? why did you order the hi wattage with the lower k rating? the site seems to indicate the other way, if you want to have similar colors. "for example, a 55w 8000k will look similar in color to a 35w 6000k kit" what was the shipping time? thanks |

You wouldn't happen to have any before and after night time pics for comparison. Thanks, Bob |

If you want more light but don't have the room for the extra hardware then get the Sylvania Silver Star Ultra H7 bulb. The only downside is shorter life expectancy so carry a spare. The good thing about the Uly is you can change the bulb without any disassembly if you're careful. By the way, you should play 9999 on Pick 4, don't forget to box it. |

Anybody have any opinions (silly question) about using "yellow", ala Euro fog/ headlights? I saw a BMW (car) the other day with them on as daytime running lights and they really got my attention. I was thinking of running a 55w 3000k in the high, (I run high beam during the day), and a 35w 6000k in the low, with the wire trick to have the low run constantly. I don't know, and have always wondered about those yellow headlights that I used to see on gray market cars. Is that all they ran for headlights? Or did they use some aux lighting for nighttime running? |

Was thinking about running dual low-beam HID's. Has anyone tried replacing the high beam reflector with a low beam reflector to do just that? |

I ordered a set of HID's from DDM tunning two weeks ago. They are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I ordered the 35w 6k lights for both low and high. I can't wait to take it out for a spin tomorrow night. |
