I had started a thread before, thinking that it was a loose engine sprocket. I just got off the phone with the dealership. (a pretty good one) They said that there was nothing unusual in the way it sounded. Also, they noticed my clutch cable was leaking a small amount so they ordered me a new one before the warranty ran out. So now I want to meet up with another 2008 guy and hear his bike! My 2000 X1 doesn't make that sound. Neither does my 1979 XLH (makes every other sound!) If it explodes next year, would the warranty cover it because I claimed to hear the sound of impending doom? It's hard for me not to be paranoid about this. |

Did you try adjusting the primary chain? Loose sprockets don't plague the 08+ models like the older bikes. |

Clutch cable leaking?Maybe your primary is overfull. It will make a different noise & puke the excess out of the clutch cable & trans vent. |

The chain was spot-on when I checked it. That's why I took it in to be looked at. The clutch cable is weeping a bit. I wouldn't have bothered to do anything about it! Breakleen = no leak evidence! |
