I just got off the telephone with my Dealer (Canada) and he tells me that the muffler straps have been changed to a new design with a different part number.

They are on back order, so here I sit unable to ride. (broken front strap)

I have one replacement strap, but need to replace all of them.

Does anyone know of this?

Look up a hose clamp the correct length and size in:
McMaster Carr.com
WW Grainger.com

See this recent thread for other possible sources for straps: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/552232.html?1270470940

I guess I should clarify, my question is this:
Is anyone aware of a new design for the muffler straps which would include of course a new part number?

Thanks

If there is an upgraded part and it will be covered under warranty then I want it and will wait for it to come off back order.

In the meanwhile I will loosen off the muffler and replace the front strap (for now) with the old strap design (which I have in hand) so that I can ride.

ALL

Here is a clamp that is the same type as whats on the Muffler. Its at McMAster Carr.com. Called a T-Bolt Hose Clamp. The OD of the Muffler is 19 1/2 inches. That makes the ID like a 6 1/2 inch tube or hose size. 3?4 inch wide. Look at this part number and the price. 5204K22, $10.51 ea., 316 stainless steel.

http://www.mcmaster.com/#t-bolt-hose-clamps/=6jq0q e

Does the price compare with the OEM price. More or Less money?

OEM is about $13 I believe.

Or it was, with a new part number could come a new price.

I'll be interested to see if they actually changed the part at all, or just switched suppliers.

I pick up extra straps at the local hydraulic shop for 6 bucks a strap.

Also, Xopti has modified a broken front strap to include a spring set up between the 2 pieces. Raced Daytona and finally didn't break a strap...

OK here is the new part number for the front muffler strap S1116.02A8
They are on back order and no idea when they will come in.

I'd sure like to know if this is an actual upgrade (worth waiting for ) or just a different supplier.

The rear straps are showing up as obsolete with no replacement number.

The Torca clamp is in stock YEA

You might be able to find them locally at a marine supply store, if you have one. I gout them for less than $10. Take your old one to measure for length.

Mm more dealer shenanigans

At least that tells me that he "new" part is not really new and I will just go ahead with my own fix with the clamp I already have.

Now if I could just get that muffler shoved up the header that last 1/4 inch...
