Pursuant to the recent discussion of inflating tires on the road (and consequent battery drain and whatnot), I thought I'd offer a photo of the air "compressor" I carry under the seat:  It's a generic warehouse special, but I removed most of the packaging and resoldered the ON/OFF switch. Since you can then "arrange" the pieces as desired it takes up little space under the seat. Yeah, it's a little tricky to hold....gotta watch out for getting fingers burned as the cylinder heats up...also keep fingers (and wires) outta the "cooling fan." BTW, the pressure gauge is surprisingly accurate! Probably you fellas have something like this already figured out...just my $0.02. --Doc | ||

Very similar to mine except I removed the fan to reduce it's size a bit more. I figured the forced air cooling was only needed because it was previously inside a plastic case. Two things I found while using it for the last few years; a piece of tie wire secured around it provides a way to bundle it up nicely for storage as well as a way to suspend it from the bike or whatever so the moving parts don't get fowled up. A little shot of lube (I've been using mobile 1 spray lubricant) in the bore will make it run cooler. | ||

I cheated and bought this kit: http://www.bestrestproducts.com/p-47-stop-and-go-p ocket-plugger.aspx and bought the adventure pack: http://www.bestrestproducts.com/c-137-cyclepump-ad venture-combo-pack.aspx Which ended up being a mistake since the gauge was too big and displaced the plugger kit from the red bag. I now have a cheapo stick-style gauge in there along with the cute aluminum housed pump and plugger. fits nicely under the seat in the uly and even fits under the seat of my X1. |
