Ok, I have an Outdoorsman tail bag, I am thinking of getting the Twisted Throttle tail rack but also want side bags. I can't afford the Outdoorsman rack & side bags so... what do you guys think of having the Buell tail bag, then getting the Tour Master Nylon Cruiser III Box Saddlebags (in xl of course) They are top loading and semi-rigid. If you click on the picture there are many more pics to get a good idea of what they look like. | ||

Hey, those look cool. I use cortech tribag saddle bags when I don't want to cart around my journey cases. - Which is most of the time, they stick out way far. I think the bags your looking at would work really well for the cost. I think the Uly is a large luggage platform. Lots of room to put stuff. The Uly tail bag is great, use it a lot; but a wolfman or similar duffel is better for long trips for me. If your not carrying a tent & sleeping bag your idea of using the outdoorsman bag, buell tail bag, and tour master saddles, with a good tanks bag will give you lots of storage room. | ||

I have been dealing with the idea of buying Outdoorsman or Journeys and never decided to go ahead due to cost, bulk and frame in the bike. So, I'm traveling with a saddlebag very similar to the one you show the link. Works fine, you can easy take them off the bike and carry over your shoulder, quite practical. To avoid them to close over the wheel on high speed I just tangle an elastic cord from the back foot rest to the tail light and presto, works just fine. On daily base or for additional handy storage I have one small bag that I slide on the triple tail by the belt they have to slid the suitcase handle (it's a cheap accessory womens bag). | ||

I've tried various soft bags over the years. Tail, tank, and saddle. Nothing compares to having quality hard cases. | ||

I just tangle an elastic cord from the back foot rest to the tail light and presto, works just fine. Good Idea. That solves one worry I had with these bags. I do plan on buying a tent, sleeping bag and pad for camping trips. So I guess the tripletail won't/can't be used for those trips. I guess a waterproof dufflebag would be better. But I am alittle worried about not having the side racks with their added support for the tail with all that added weight. |
